Resident Evil Village
Our time has come! After what felt like years of waiting, it is finally time to dive into Resident Evil Village. Capcom’s newest installment to the highly popular horror franchise isn’t a remake but a brand new title! Following Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, it seems like Ethan is finally getting a chance to take a break. But not for long! When Chris Redfield shows back up, things are bound to go bad. After Ethan’s infant daughter is kidnapped, he sets off to bring her home. But nothing can prepare him for the village, Lady Dimitrescu’s terrifying castle, and so much more. So get your game faces on and get ready to jump back into the horror!
Resident Evil Village was released on May 7, 2021, for PC through Steam, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and the Xbox Series X.

Famicom Detective Club: The Missing Heir & The Girl Who Stands Behind
Are you looking to dive into some mysteries this month? Then you’ll want to pick up Famicon Detective Club: The Missing Heir and Famicon Detective Club: The Girl Who Stands Behind! This duology was first released back in the late 1980s and has been completely remastered and remade for the Nintendo Switch. In these titles, players will take on the role of a Detective Assistant at Utsugi Detective Agency, tasked with solving both murders and mysteries. In addition to the fully updated soundtrack and voice acting cast, players can also choose to play the original 8-bit soundtrack throughout their adventure. I am a sucker for a great mystery game which is why these remastered classics made our most anticipated video games list this month!
Famicon Detective Club: The Missing Heir and Famicon Detective Club: The Girl Who Stands Behind will release on May 14, 2021 for the Nintendo Switch.
Mass Effect: Legendary Edition
Get ready to save the Galaxy – the Mass Effect: Legendary Edition is finally here! This remastered collection comes packed with all three original games (Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2, and Mass Effect 3), over 40 DLC adventures and many improved features. For instance, the combat system from Mass Effect is updated to match the sequels. And yes, even the Mako received an upgrade. Create your own Commander Shepard and fight fearsome foes, explore distant planets, and make choices that ultimately affect the galaxy (all three games). Whether you’re already a Mass Effect fan or interested in diving into the series for the first time, this release is a must-have this May. I know so many gamers (myself included) who cannot wait to romance Garrus in 4k Ultra HD.
Mass Effect: Legendary Edition will release on May 14, 2021 for the Xbox One, PS4, and PC through Steam and Origin.

Days Gone PC Release
Days Gone isn’t a new release, but its port to PC will bring with it a whole new audience of players- those who haven’t gotten the chance to experience developer Bend Studio’s open-world post-apocalyptic story. Players step into the shoes of former outlaw biker turned bounty hunter Deacon St. John. They will guide him through an open world full of abandoned settlements for equipment to craft valuable items and even weapons. The port to PC will include ultra-wide monitor support, unlocked framerates, and improved graphics, making it completely replayable for those who have already experienced this gem of a title.
Days Gone will release on May 18, 2021 for the PC through Steam.
Akiba’s Trip: Hellbound & Debriefed
Akiba’s Trip: Hellbound & Debriefed is a remake of the original Akiba’s Trip first released in 2011. After two years of silence since its announcement at E3 2019, this title is finally coming to U.S. consoles! In the Akihabara district of Tokyo, the otaku scene is plagued by a conspiracy of vampires. It is up to the Akiba Freedom Fighters (and thus, the player) to keep the streets safe and expose the vampires – literally. Players hit off the vampires’ clothes in order to take them down. What? We never said this game was family-friendly. Naughtiness aside, this is the first time this franchise is ever localized outside of Japan, with an English VO cast. If you have an interest in exploring an international niche, be sure to pick up this title!
Akiba’s Trip: Hellbound & Undressed will be available on May 20, 2021 for the Nintendo Switch and PS4.
Knockout City
Knockout City is a team-based competitive multiplayer action game. Think of it as video game dodgeball, but if the dodgeballs were fiery explosives. Heck, you can even *become* a ball for your team! The game picked up a lot of interest during the February Nintendo Direct and the PlayStation State of Play. If the unique multiplayer experience is not enough to draw you in, the game has a phenomenal soundtrack by The Soundlings (a musical duo mostly known for music production in film and television). It is refreshing to see a studio take a different route in a multiplayer world swamped with shooters, which is why this title is one of our most anticipated video games of May. Whether you are new to online games or a core gamer looker for a serious challenge, maybe you should get ready to dodge and throw in Knockout City!
Knockout City releases on May 21, 2021 for the PC through Steam and Origin, Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X.

World’s End Club
From the creators of Danganronpa and the Zero Escape series comes a brand new side-scrolling adventure narrative game. In World’s End Club, a group of misfit kids (known as the “Go-Getters Club”) find themselves thrown into an abandoned amusement part and forced to participate in the “Game of Fate.” They’ll have to work together to survive as strange occurrences happen to them and throughout Japan. Each character comes with their own unique ability that Reycho (the player) must utilize to solve puzzles and defeat enemies. This game caught my attention during the February Nintendo Direct, and I’ve been looking forward to playing it ever since! If you’re looking for a colorful, creative, and thrilling adventure title, then definitely pick up World’s End Club this May!
World’s End Club will be available on May 28, 2021 for the Nintendo Switch.
