Another has pledged themselves to Middle Earth.

According to Deadline, actor Maxim Baldry (Years and Years) has joined the cast of Amazon’s adaptation of The Lord of the Rings. Apparently the actor was tied to the show back in autumn, however a deal had not been reached yet. No mention of what kind of role he will be playing but he has been cast in a lead, key role.

Baldry joins the 15 other actors that were announced over the past couple months including Robert Aramayo, Owain Arthur, Nazanin Boniadi, Tom Budge, Morfydd Clark, Ismael Cruz Córdova, Ema Horvath, Markella Kavenagh, Joseph Mawle, Tyroe Muhafidin, Sophia Nomvete, Megan Richards, Dylan Smith, Charlie Vickers and Daniel Weyman.

Everything about the show is wrapped in secrecy but we have a few details. The series will be set during the Second Age, an over 3500 year period which ended when Sauron’s army was defeated by the Last Alliance of Elves and Men after the fall of Númenor. Aramayo is a character simply known as “Beldor” and Clark has been cast as a young Galadriel, so we know at least one familiar face.
