Redemption! In an interview with Cinema Blend, director Matthew Vaughn was speaking about his latest film when his involvement in superhero films came up. He’s been involved with quite a few but one he seemingly regrets. Yet, he has some hope for it.
Vaughn started his foray into the superhero world with the movie adaption of Kick Ass, which received high praise. He then went on to bring new life into the X-Men franchise. Then of course taking on the Kingsman universe. But some may forget that he was a producer on the massive failure that was the Fantastic Four film. Vaughn feels partially responsible for this, telling Cinema Blend the following.

The other one I’ve felt an obligation to do is, I wouldn’t mind maybe making a Fantastic Four film to apologize to everyone out there that maybe it didn’t go very well for them. It’s brilliant. One of my favorites is the Fantastic Four, so maybe one day I’ll try and rectify the mistake.
We’re sure the executives over at Fox had a near heart-attack with that one. Fantastic Four is the super hero family that just can’t adapt well into films. But with Vaughn’s track record, he may be the one to finally crack the code. And if we’re being honest, they deserve to have another shot after such a terrible failure. And since Vaughn seems to be passionate about it, we say go for it! But we’ll have to see if he signs onto the Man of Steel sequel first.
What do you think of the news? Would you want to see Matthew Vaughn take on Marvel’s first family? Or would you rather watch the series finally die? Let us know! Be sure to come back to Geek Girl Authority for more superhero news.
