We have a new update coming out of the batcave. Today on Twitter, director Matt Reeves uploaded a video that gives us the smallest taste of what we’re going to be seeing in The Batman. Arguably, it’s one of the most important parts of the film as it could make or break the character. And that is, of course, the suit aka the Batsuit.

The 55 second long camera test stays dark as a somewhat sinister song builds. (Could this be the new Batman theme?) A faint red light comes on the screen. It slowly reveals a blurred man, walking slowly towards the camera. The closer it gets, the better we can see the chest piece of the Batsuit, revealing a mechanical looking bat symbol in the center of the chest. The camera turns slightly and we can see that the cape is embedded into the suit, becoming one with it. The camera pans up slowly to reveal the cowl before it cuts to black.

Right out of the gate, we can see that this suit was heavily inspired by Rocksteady’s Batman Arkham series, most especially Arkham Knight. It’s unclear if the chest piece helps expand the armor so that it’s easier for him to move, like in the game. The Arkham Knight version is one of the smartest designs I’ve seen of the suit. Given that the armor is plated on Robert Pattinson‘s chest, I’m going to assume that it does help his mobility. Due to it’s more steampunk design, I wonder if the bat symbol has any more features, such as being bulletproof, similar to other iterations. Or maybe he can use it as a last-ditch batarang if need be. Or it could be a gun. Potentially to symbolize the death of his parents? Clearly I’m very focused on the Bat symbol but this is a bit exciting!

We didn’t get a good look at the rest of the suit but so far so good. As mentioned in the description, the cape is pretty embedded into the suit, so it’s likely going to be very heavy. The material looked very thick as well so it could have the potential to help him fly for longer distances. As for the cowl, well, we didn’t get to see much at all. So as of now we don’t know how long the ears are on it or what kind of material is used for it. But it certainly fits Pattinson’s face well. I’ll be excited to see this in it’s full glory so we can all judge it accordingly. Excitement is certainly brewing though!

You’ll have to check out the footage for yourself and let us know what you think. Are you excited to see the full suit or are you tired of Batman films (how could you be though)? Be sure to come back to Geek Girl Authority for more DC movie news.
