Camila Mendes as Teela
As one of the stars of the CW’s Riverdale, Camila Mendes is no stranger to adaptations of beloved franchises. Deadline announced today that she’ll play Teela in the Amazon MGM Studios/Mattel film. Teela is a warrior, and captain of Eternia’s Royal Guard. Responsible for protecting the royal family, she’s especially close with Prince Adam aka He-Man, played by the previously announced Nicholas Galitzine (Red, White and Royal Blue, Bottoms).
While the show is based on the iconic Mattel franchise, there isn’t much information available yet on the film’s plot. An earlier synopsis from the studio said “Masters of the Universe follows Prince Adam of Eternia aka He-Man, who crashes to Earth in a spaceship as a child and, decades later, returns to his home planet to defend it from the evil forces of the baddie known as Skeletor. But in order to defeat the powerful villain, he needs to uncover the mysteries of his past and become He-Man, referred to in this world as ‘the most powerful man in the universe.'”

It’s Not Just a Barbie World Anymore
Masters of the Universe is one of many movies in the works from Mattel Films. Their first and only film so far, Barbie, took the world by storm in 2023. Now, adaptations of Barney, Bob the Builder, Uno and more are in development.
