With each passing year, the names and faces from the golden age of radio become a little murkier with age. While the names of popular comedians like Jack Benny and George Burns are still known and rightly respected, so many of the medium’s popular figures worked with women who were more than spouses and partners. They were independent, savvy and entertaining performers in their own right. These are The Fierce Leading Ladies of Radio. 

This week at Female Gaze Productions, we’re diving into the inaugural installment of The Fierce Leading Ladies of Radio with a look at the life and career of Mary Livingstone. While she’s primarily known as Mrs. Jack Benny, Mary Livingstone was also a fun, active and likable partner in his comedy act and equal contributor to the comedic dynasty.
