Marvel Comics just announced this year’s giant-sized Pride issue celebrating the LGBTQI+ community, and hopefully, the “A” community too, because it stands for “asexual.” Although I guess us aces, demi-aces and gray aces kind of have the MCU, so maybe we have been covered already (j/k). However, this year’s Marvel’s Voices: Pride #1 does continue the tradition of introducing a whole new queer character to the Marvel Universe, and it introduces two new hot-shot—and super funny—trans writers to the Marvel Comics roster. OOH, WEE!

I cannot wait to meet the character introduced by New York Times best-selling author Charlie Jane Anders, or to read Girl God and Rick and Morty‘s Grace Freud‘s story showing “trans heroes having the opportunity to take down some villains who aren’t bigots.” Freud will be joined by Eisner-nominated artist Scott B. Henderson in his first work for Marvel!

Also penning stories for this year’s jam-packed Pride anthology is Iron Man writer and television showrunner Christopher Cantwell, telling the story of Drax’s bisexual daughter Moondragon in a story that takes the character across space and time, as well as Shuster and Eisner-winning writer Andrew Wheeler, who is making his Marvel Comics debut with a story about Hercules, drawn by Brittney Williams.

In addition to stories by Champion writer Danny Lore and Ira Madison III, the press release also promises, “Nebula, World Fantasy, and Locus-award winner Alyssa Wong [will reunite with] the Young Avengers fan-favorite artist Stephen Byrne in a story guaranteed to please fans new and old! Byrne will also depict the team in a vibrant variant cover that you can check out now!”

And that’s not all! Marvel Comics also announced it will celebrate Pride Month with a series of new variant covers designed by Luciano Vecchio and Betsy Cola. Check out all the Pride Month covers below! Be sure to let us know how you plan on celebrating your LGBTQIA+ identity or allyship each and every day—and in June—and don’t forget to support your favorite queer creators!
