Marvel.com is reporting that Disney’s Bob Iger announced the release dates for Marvel’s The Falcon and The Winter Soldier and WandaVision on Disney+. The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, starring Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan, will premiere this summer in August. WandaVision, starring Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany, will debut in December 2020.
Marvel’s The Falcon and Winter Soldier occurs after the events of Avengers: Endgame. Sam Wilson, The Falcon (Mackie), and Bucky Barnes, The Winter Solider (Stan), continue their global adventures. Emily VanCamp returns as Sharon Carter and Daniel Brühl reprises his role as Baron Zemo. Wyatt Russell joins the MCU as John Walker, also known in the comics as U.S. Agent. Kari Skogland directs the series and Malcolm Spellman serves as head writer.
Marvel’s WandaVision is a little different. The series is a blend of classic sitcoms with a Marvel touch. Wanda Maximoff, Scarlett Witch (Olsen) and Vision (Bettany) get to live out their ideal, normal, suburban lives, but soon realize it’s all too good to be true. Teyonah Parris debuts as the adult version of Monica Rambeau from Captain Marvel. Kat Dennings, from the Thor saga, reprises her role as Darcy. Randall Park, from Ant-Man and the Wasp, will return as Agent Jimmy Woo, and rounding out the cast is a new character played by Kathryn Hahn. Matt Shakman directs the series and Jac Schaeffer serves as head writer.
Such exciting news! I can’t wait to see what kind of shenanigans Wanda and Vision get into. With Kat Dennings and Randall Park, this series should be pretty funny. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier looks pretty dramatic. I’m glad the MCU is continuing Sam and Bucky’s story after Captain America’s retirement. There are so many more adventures to be had!
Look for The Falcon and The Winter Soldier on Disney+ in August and WandaVision in December.
