This is the news we’ve been waiting for. The teen superhero series Runaways has officially been renewed for a second season. We can all breathe a sigh of relief at that! Hulu and Marvel once again will be teaming up to bring our 6 heroes back for more adventures. This news announced on Marvel.com comes right before the premiere of the first season finale so it couldn’t have come at a better time to keep us all excited!

Runaways is based on the comic of the same name featuring 6 teenagers with various powers. Their parents get together ever year as PRIDE, donating around the city. But what the kids come to learn is that they’ve actually come together on more sinister terms – annually sacrificing a teen. Once they learn what their parents have been doing, they work together to bring them down. While we have to wait tomorrow to see just where the episode leaves our heroes, we know there’s more to come. And the production team couldn’t be happier. Jeph Loeb, executive producer and Marvel’s Head of TV expressed his joy in a second season.

We’re thrilled about ‘Runaways’ Season 2. Our partnership with Josh [Schwartz] and Stephanie [Savage] and Hulu has been as exciting as the reaction to the show from our fans — both new and old!

Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage also echoed their excitement. They even thanked the man behind the page who brought us these fantastic characters.

We’re so privileged that Marvel and Brian K. Vaughan trusted us with Runaways. We couldn’t be more excited to continue telling this story. It’s been a blast making the show with the cast and crew. We can’t wait to see where we can take the story in Season 2 and to stay on the run. The conversations with the fans have been gratifying. We hear and see you. We appreciate your passion and hearing how much the show means to you. Beware the possibility of a dinosaur on the streets of Los Angeles…and earthquakes!

It’s nice to hear that the showrunners are actually listening to fans. And as we all know, comic fans can be some of the most boisterous and passionate about these characters. So it looks like they want to make fans of the comic happy as well. It’s currently not known how many episodes will be in the new season. But THR is claiming there will be 13. So even more episodes of fun, if this rumor is true. In the mean time, we’ll have to see what the finale brings to the table to get us amped for the next season!
