On Thursday, June 22, 2023, Marvel Entertainment announced a trio of What If…? adult prose novels. The novels will be published in collaboration with Random House Worlds. All three novels are scheduled for publication in 2024. Furthermore, each novel will be set in a distinct universe in the Marvel multiverse. The first to arrive will be What If… Loki Was Worthy? A Loki and Valkyrie Story by Madeleine Roux.
What If… Loki Was Worthy?
In What If… Loki Was Worthy?, Loki’s prank accidentally kills Thor and lays waste to New York City and its heroes. And although this Loki variant may wield Mjolnir, he’s been banished to Midgard. He befriends a gecko and resigns himself to instant noodles.

However, things get more complicated when a Valkyrie arrives. She’s on a sworn mission to the late Thor. As such, she aims to locate Doctor Jane Foster and ensure Mjolnir reaches its rightful heir. And if that’s not enough on Loki’s plate, this variant of Iron Man has vowed “revenge on those who consider themselves gods.”
Although plot details have only been revealed for What If… Loki Was Worthy?, two additional titles have been announced. The first is What If… Wanda Maximoff and Peter Parker Were Siblings? A Scarlet Witch and Spider-Man Story by Seanan McGuire. And the second is What If… Marc Spector Was a Host to a Venom? A Moon Knight and Venom Story by Mike Chen.

What If… Loki Was Worthy? is scheduled for arrival on March 12, 2024. Next will be the arrival of What If… Wanda Maximoff and Peter Parker Were Siblings? in July 2024.
