Sounds like the dream of Captain Marvel becoming a movie is one step closer to being a reality as The Wrap and The Tracking Board have both reported that Nicole Perlman, co-writer of Guardians of the Galaxy and Meg LeFauve, who wrote Inside Out, are in talks to write the screenplay for the film.

Captain Marvel will be the first female-led film out of Marvel, following Major Carol Danvers of the United States Air Force who gets super powers like strength, flight and energy blasts after an accident fuses her DNA with that of a Kree alien. Kevin Feige has commented on her as being one of the most powerful heroes in the MCU.

Also, according to The Wrap in that same article, Michelle MacLaren is rumored to be in the running to direct the film “as she just departed the Wonder Woman movie at Warner Bros. due to creative differences.”

The film is currently slated for release on July 6th, 2018.
