Martin Freeman will be playing Everett Ross in the upcoming Captain America: Civil War. That’s the word out of Empire today.
From the moment his casting was announced, all us nerds have speculated that Freeman would be playing Special Agent Everett Ross, the U.S. Government’s quick-witted and somewhat cowardly liaison to T’Chaka, T’Challa and the technologically advanced nation of Wakanda. And now we know that’s true.
The casting news also came with this picture which gives us our first real look at his character, whom we’ve only very briefly seen in the first trailer for Civil War. The picture also features Emily Van Camp as Agent 13.
It’s been said that Freeman’s role is relatively brief in Civil War, but his role will no doubt be a much larger one in the upcoming Black Panther film. That script is still being finalized by writer Joe Robert Cole, directed by Ryan Coogler and starring Chadwick Boseman as the titular hero, the Black Panther, whom we’ll first meet in Captain America: Civil War.
Also, along with this casting confirmation we got some new pictures featuring some great looks at Crossbones, Scarlet Witch and two of the epic covers of the next Empire Magazine.
