According to The Wrap, martial artist Scott Adkins has joined the cast of Doctor Strange in an undisclosed role. This is the same site that also reported, just this week, that Amy Landecker had joined the cast of Scott Derrickson’s film that already features the dream cast of Benedict Cumberbatch in the titular role, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Baron Mordo, Tilda Swinton as The Ancient One and Rachel McAdams in the role of the female lead, which has not yet been confirmed.

Oh yeah, and Mads Mikkelson is not yet confirmed, but his name has been rumored for a while.

So, yeah, Scott Adkins is coming into a cast that features some of greatest actors of their generation.

According to the site, “Adkins’ role is being kept under wraps, though insiders suggest he’ll have several major action scenes featuring hand-to-hand combat.”

It’s unlikely that he’ll be Wong as it seems that Marvel and Derrickson are doing their best to diversify the cast, but it’s likely that he’ll be a student under the tutelage of The Ancient One, maybe even an agent working in his service to keep the world safe from supernatural threats. In the most current Doctor Strange animated film, The Ancient One had a sort of team of mystical martial artists and it’s likely that something like that will exist in the MCU incarnation of the film.

Like, one of the guys featured in this epic opening sequence.
