Do you love Margot Robbie? Are you an avid fan of Disney‘s Pirates of the Caribbean franchise? Then, we’ve got news for you! As reported in The Hollywood Reporter, Robbie will soon be setting sail in a new Pirates of the Caribbean film, with writer Christina Hodson penning the script. Now, this isn’t the first time Robbie and Hodson have worked together. Hodson also wrote the script for Birds of Prey, wherein Robbie portrayed the titular Harley Quinn.

Of course, we don’t know anything about the plot yet. However, we do know that this film will be a female-fronted project and a separate entity from the Johnny Depp-led Pirates of the Caribbean saga. In addition, Robbie’s film won’t be categorized as a “spin-off,” but an entirely original story. We can get behind that!

Hodson is climbing the ranks as a reputable writer in Hollywood. Her resume includes lucrative Transformers spin-off Bumblebee as well as DC’s The Flash. Not to mention, Hodson will be taking on another much-anticipated DC property: Batgirl

Now, Robbie’s Pirates of the Caribbean is also not affiliated with the Craig Mazin/Ted Elliot reboot of the popular franchise. Legendary producer Jerry Bruckheimer is attached to produce both projects, respectively.

Initial thoughts: I’m game for a female-led movie about pirates. Robbie has proven time and time again that she’s an immensely gifted performer. In addition, Hodson is an eloquent writer and will most certainly do the Pirates of the Caribbean moniker justice.
