Manifesters Rejoice! Netflix Picks Up MANIFEST for a Fourth and Final Season

Back in June, Manifest fans were gut-punched when the supernatural series seemingly killed a main character at the end of the season three finale. (I say seemingly because as a fan, I hoped they would find a way to bring the character back. It is a supernatural show, after all, where strange things happen and faith is a theme). However, the next week, NBC swooped in kicked the fans while they were down by canceling the show.

This was a surprising move for fans as Manifest had amassed a loyal and large following – in other words, the ratings were good. The show’s creator, Jeff Rake had originally sold the series to NBC with mapped out a six-season run so there were many questions in this complex Lost-like story knot that were left unanswered.

Cue the #SaveManifest campaign. The creator, stars and fans of the series worked hard on social media to save the show. Manifest’s previous seasons were already No. 1 on Netflix when the cancelation happened. With the campaign, the show continued to do incredibly well on Netflix. This fact ended up helping Manifest find a new home in the streaming giant.

Netflix announced today in a very fun way via social media, that it picked up Manifest for what they call a “super-sized fourth and final season.” The series revolves around Flight 828 which disappeared in the air and reappeared five years later. Today is August 28th. 828 – get it? Clever.

Fans, or Manifesters, are overjoyed on Twitter right now. The stars and writers for the show are also getting in on the celebration. Even Stephen King tweeted about the pickup.

Whatever Rake had planned for the last three seasons of the series, will be reworked and remapped. Rake said in a statement, “What started years ago as a flight of fancy deep in my imagination has evolved into the jet engine journey of a lifetime. Never in my wildest dreams could I have envisioned the worldwide outpouring of love and support for this story, its characters, and the team who work so hard to bring it all to life. That we will be able to reward the fans with the ending they deserve moves me to no end. On behalf of the cast, the crew, the writers, directors, and producers, thank you to Netflix, to Warner Bros., and of course to the fans. You did this.”

No release date has been given. I, myself, can’t wait to see what Rake and the writers’ room comes up with. Like, maybe bring back the character that died? Please?
