According to TV Line, it looks like Agents of SHIELD has found their first LMD, which they have named AIDA. Can we just take a moment to recognize all the acronyms in that sentence?

SHIELD — Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division
— Life Model Decoy
AIDA — Artificial Intelligence Data Analyzer.

That is a gigantic mouthful, right?

Moving on.

Australian actress Mallory Jansen, best known for her work as the Evil Queen in the recently-cancelled Galavant, has been cast as the artificial life-form invented by Doctor Radcliffe (John Hannah). If you remember, at the end of last season, we saw Radcliffe wishing that Agents Fitz and Simmons were present to witness the birth of his newest creation, a life model decoy.

Then, earlier this year, we heard our first rumors that ABC and Marvel would be casting a female in the role. That female is Mallory Jansen and the character is AIDA.

And now you are completely caught up on that background.

There is no word yet on if she will be a character aligned more with good or evil or how much of a role she will play in the upcoming season, which sees the team in turmoil following the events of last season, with Agent Daisy Johnson (Chloe Bennett) now gone rogue and Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) no longer the director of SHIELD.

And, of course, we’ve also got Ghost Rider making his debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe
