Lupita Nyong’o is apparently in talks to co-star opposite Chadwick Boseman in the up-coming Marvel film, Black Panther, which will be directed by Ryan Coogler.

Coogler, you might remember, is hot off of his film Creed, which he wrote and directed. Lupita Nyong’o, in case you forgot, won an Oscar for 12 Years a Slave.

We all just met Chadwick Boseman in Captain America: Civil War where we saw his first turn as the Black Panther, King T’Challa of Wakanda, a fictional African nation who’s primary natural resource is the indestructible metal Vibranium — the metal that Captain America’s shield is made of.

It’s unclear who Nyong’o is being looked at to play, though THR states that “she will be the Panther’s love interest.” It seems likely that this will make her a part of the Dora Milaje, the warrior women who are dedicated to keeping the King and his family safe.

Does she really have to be a love interest, because we here at Geek Girl Authority are screaming our heads off for her to play T’Challa’s half-sister, Shuri, who goes on to become the Black Panther in her own right.

Black Panther is out February 2, 2018, so we’ve got plenty of time to speculate before there’s an official announcement.
