Lucy Lawless set to star along side Bruce Campbell in the new Starz series Ash Vs. Evil Dead. AYIYIYIYIYI!!!!!
Admit it. We were all hoping, praying this would happen. Lucy Lawless and her husband, producer/writer Rob Tapert have a history of working together (Xena Warrior Princess, Spartacus) so there was a very good chance that the stars would align for them again on Ash Vs. Evil Dead. (Oh God. I just made a stars/Starz pun. What have I done!?!)
Lucy Lawless joins cast members Ray Santiago and Dana DeLorenzo in the upcoming Starz series which is based on the cult movie franchise The Evil Dead. This series reunites the super trio of Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert and Bruce Campbell. All three will be Executive Producers. Sam Raimi is set to direct the first episode and of course, Bruce Campbell is reprising his role as the iconic Ash.
The series picks up 30 years after the end of Army of Darkness with Ash still a stock boy, aging lothario and chainsaw-handed monster hunter who has spent the last 30 years avoiding responsibility, maturity and the terrors of the Evil Dead. When a Deadite plague threatens to destroy all of mankind, Ash is finally forced to face his demons –personal and literal.
I assume that this mean Ash still works at S-Mart. God, I hope so.
Lucy Lawless will be playing Ruby, a mysterious figure who is myopic in her quest to hunt down the source of the recent Evil outbreaks. The only problem: She believes that Ash (Campbell) is the cause of it all.
Sam Raimi has said of the project, Evil Dead has always been a blast, Bruce, Rob, and I are thrilled to have the opportunity to tell the next chapter in Ash’s lame, but heroic saga. With his chainsaw arm and his ‘boomstick,’ Ash is back to kick some monster butt. And brother, this time there’s a truckload of it.
I will lend you my steel!
Now that Lucy Lawless has joined the cast, I’m left to wonder, will Ted Raimi have a cameo in this series? I hope so. Whatever the case, remember, SHOP SMART! SHOP S-MART
Filming begins this Spring in New Zealand.
