Lucifer

LUCIFER: L-R: Lauren German and Tom Ellis in the ÒHomewreckerÓ episode of LUCIFER airing Monday, Nov. 21 (9:01-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. ©2016 Fox Broadcasting Co. Cr: Michael Courtney/FOX.

Lucifer (Tom Ellis) and Amenadiel (D.B. Woodside) sit at the back of a tour bus. The boys are going to make Las Angeles their home, it is the City of Angels, after all. However, Lucifer finds himself completely underwhelmed with the lackluster tour guide, and takes over the bus with a charisma only he possesses. Suddenly, everything is more interesting. Shifting his glance to the back of the bus, Amenadiel has disappeared. Once again, he has abandoned Lucifer.

Lucifer returns to to Dr. Martin (Rachael Harris). The Devil is struggling. Heaven isn’t his home. Yet, neither is hell. Feeling utterly lost, Lucifer is desperate to make Los Angeles his home. “What are you looking for?” Dr. Martin asks, hitting the nail squarely on the head.

Meanwhile, Dean Cooper is our victim of the week. The morally ambiguous, real estate mogul is slumped over his breakfast table. Ella (Aimee Garcia) immediately pronounces his cause of death as “explosive exsanguination” resulting from a a shard of glass to the carotid artery. Furthermore, Cooper was also Lucifer’s landlord.

Later, as Lucifer enters Lux, there’s a group of suits waiting for him. A particularly suity looking suit stands up and hands Lucifer a sheet of paper, “You’re being evicted”. This is Dean Cooper’s son, Eric (Nick Jandl). It turns out, Lucifer and Dean had a particularly unconventional agreement. Their lease wasn’t legally binding; rather, it had been written in lipstick on a stripper’s thong. As the boy’s almost come to blows, Maze (Lesley-Ann Brandt) gets between them. She argue’s that this is all Charlotte’s (Tricia Helfer) doing. Is Lucifer’s darling mother trying to take Lux away from her son?

Meanwhile, back at the crime scene, Ella is hard at work jigsaw puzzling the shattered wine flute. She scans the glass, immediately finding Eric Cooper’s fingerprints. Did the man kill his father?

As they go to speak with Eric Cooper, Chloe (Lauren German) lectures Lucifer. He can’t go around terrorizing Cooper. There will be no threatening to tear his arms off. No dangling him out of a window. Lucifer says, “His feet will stay firmly on the ground…”. No sooner is Lucifer able to finish his sentence, as Eric’s body smashes into a car behind them. He’s fallen out of the skyscraper. Looking over at Chloe, Lucifer quips, “That wasn’t me”.

Despite the look of the incident, it’s convent that the fall didn’t kill Eric. He tried a swan dive from the 7th floor, which turned out to almost be high enough to kill him, but not quite. From his hospital bed, he tells them that Eleanor Bloom (Veena Sood) is now the owner of Lux. Within hours of Dean Cooper’s death, she had closed on a deal the Cooper’s had been obstructing for years. Consequently, Eleanor is now a chief suspect.

As she discusses her plans to turn Lux into a chic mini-mall, Eleanor tells Chloe that her accountants had found a lot of hidden payments from Cooper to another party.

Meanwhile, Charlotte is apparently working against Lucifer. She manages to remain successfully under the radar as she uses her cover as a lawyer to take on a bomb building client (Victor Ayala). Charlotte pounces on a moment alone with her client during his police interrogation. Looking him up and down, she asks him if he can bring down a nightclub.

However, Lucifer spoils her plan. As she arrives at the club, ready to blow up the building, Lucifer’s having a happening sit-in. Hence, he is not going to let the club go without a fight.

At the same time, Chloe trudges through the case of the week on her own. She interviews Simon Hallbrooks (Flex Alexander), a private investigator who has been taking the mysterious payments from Dean Cooper. However, the interview is short-lived, as Dan (Kevin Alejandro) enters. He informs Chloe that there’s an illegal party going on at Lux, and they need to end it.

When the police enter, it looks like they’re going to break-up the party. However, the officers leave the hard work to Chloe. Her soft-spot for Lucifer has been growing, and with a small smile Chloe tells him to crank up the music. As the party once again picks up, Charlotte watches her son. There’s animosity growing in her expression.

As the investigation moves forward, Lucifer crashes one of Simon’s collars. Chloe quickly mentions Eric’s wife, Christi (Chelsea Hobbs). In fact, Dean Cooper had been digging for evidence that she had been cheating on his son. When the girl turned out to be faithful, a desperate Dean wanted the evidence staged. Simon is a professional home wrecker.

Across town, Charlotte is out on a date. As Maze and Amenadiel hover in the darkness, they’re stunned as Dan walks in. The Angel and the Detective discuss their exes, and Charlotte recounts how she was “Literally in hell” after her break-up. However, Dan has no idea that she is telling the literal truth. As Dan and Charlotte sprint off, hand in hand, Maze and Amenadiel bicker. The demon takes great glee in torturing the fallen angel as a taboo topic emerges. Everyone’s parent’s have sex, we just don’t choose to acknowledge it.

Chloe and Lucifer return to Eric’s place, proposing that it was Christi who killed Dean Cooper. However, the love-sick couple both cling to the statement that they both killed Dean, refusing to let the other take the charges by themselves.

Later, Chloe comes to Lucifer with good news. She has used her pull to turn Lux into a heritage site. Lucifer had told her about the rich history of the nightclub; and thanks to Chloe, Lucifer’s home can not be torn down. It’s a sweet moment.

Dr. Martin puts forth a hyptothesis. While, Lucifer might have been looking for something when he came to LA, he seems to have found it. Why else is Linda the only human who has seen his true face, despite Chloe’s desire to know more. What is Lucifer trying to protect?

As the final credits roll, Chloe leaves a restaurant, stood up by a nervous Lucifer. As she prepares to start her car, Charlotte hovers near by, a detonator clutched in her hand.

Lucifer airs Monday nights at 9/8c  on your local Fox affiliate.
