After four seasons of hearing about Lucifer Morningstar’s (Tom Ellis) daddy issues, we will finally meet the Almighty. Dennis Haysbert will play God in the upcoming fifth and final season.
According to Entertainment Weekly, God’s favorite son Amenadiel, played by D. B. Woodside had a hand in casting the Big Guy. “We did like the big crazy list of [possible actors for the part], and he was my top choice,” Lucifer co-showrunner Joe Henderson told EW. “We were lucky. It was our first and only offer.” Haysbert and Woodside played father and son in Fox’s 24. No wonder that’s is favorite. You probably also recognize him from the Allstate insurance commercials. So you know we’re in good hands. LOL
It will be interesting to see what hand God plays this season. Season four ended with Lucifer and Chloe (Lauren German) confessing their love to each other, only for the Devil to return to Hell. However it will be Amenadiel, not Chloe who visits Lucifer. According to EW, there’s a situation on Earth that Amenadiel can’t handle. I wonder if it has anything to do with the new baby? Or maybe even something to do with God? We’ll have to wait and see.
Lucifer also stars Lesley-Ann Brandt, Kevin Alejandro, Rachael Harris, Aimee Garcia, and Scarlett Estevez. Lucifer returns to Netflix later this year in a two part final season.
