That’s right fans, the devil will have to say his goodbye. In a brutal move by Fox, the network cancelled many of its shows and sadly Lucifer didn’t make it. The fantasy police drama based on the DC/Vertigo character had won fans hearts in 2016. But according to Entertainment Weekly, the show wasn’t doing well outside of the fandom.
The show followed a very bored devil (Tom Ellis) who becomes an LA night club owner while helping the LAPD solve crimes. This premise didn’t appeal to everyone as apparently the show was only garnering about 4 million views an episode. The star is taking the news rather well, as Ellis took to Twitter to share his gratitude for being a part of the series.
It has been the most amazing experience over the past 3 years playing Lucifer and falling in love with you, the fans. It fills me with great sadness to confirm the rumours that some of you have been asking. Fox has indeed cancelled
#lucifer I’m so sorry guys. #gutted
Fans can agree that they’re feeling gutted as well, given the brutallity of cancelling many shows and waiting until the week before the season finale. While not new for the network, it’s sad to see some fan favorites go. Though some believe Fox is canning shows due to the merger with Disney, it hasn’t been confirmed. And according to Deadline, the producers are asking fans to try saving the series by making “noise” on social media. We’ll have to keep our eyes peeled. But as of now, the devil is gone.
