Yesterday, we had reported that Star Wars spinoff films were on hold until further notice. The report from Collider claimed that the production had stopped on the previously rumored/announced Obi-Wan Kenobi film along with Boba Fett and any films under the ‘A Star Wars Story’ moniker. Well, ABC is reporting that it’s just not true.
According to the article, an unnamed Lucasfilm representitive spoke to ABC and cleared the air. The films are still in production. Not only that, but there are even more films in production outside of the previously announced trilogies. What those films are, we have not been made aware but the galaxy far, far, away is still chugging along, ready to drop a whole lot of material on us.

As I had said yesterday, it would be nice if Lucasfilm stepped back for a moment and regrouped. If they really thought about how to evolve the franchise rather than re-treading it. But with this news, it’s seemingly true that we’ll still be getting films in the original trilogy era with characters we all know and love. We’ll have to see how this all plays out as Lucasfilm hasn’t officially released a statement. Be sure to come back to Geek Girl Authority where we’ll be updating you as the story progresses!
