To celebrate their newest series, Lovecraft Country, HBO and The Mill have announced the series exclusive event Lovecraft Country: Sanctum. This is a series of virtual reality events that will transport guests from the safety of their home to a world inspired by the show. The series will have three events consisting of immersive theater, escape rooms, art installations, puzzles and a live concert. And all of this is brought to the guests via the Oculus Quest headset, which will allow them to interact with each other.

The event isn’t just for the participants, though. Lovecraft Country: Sanctum will stream simultaneously to the world via YouTube Live. Viewers will be able to interact in real time by solving riddles that will trigger spells. Of course, these spells will have a direct impact on the experience, and there is no way of knowing if it will be good or bad. Jonathan MajorsCourtney B. Vance and Michael Kenneth Williams have provided voiceover work to help bring the experience to life.

Vice President, Program Marketing at HBO, Dana Flax, shared: “We’re so thrilled to be partnering with The Mill on creating a virtual reality ‘secret society’ in Sanctum. So much of Lovecraft Country is rooted in the idea of travel as a catalyst for self-discovery. Sanctum provides a way for fans to come together virtually and safely in a unique new place and experience incredible performances that further explore themes and ideas from the show. These virtual events also give us the special opportunity of spotlighting the work of Black artists in celebration of this very important series.”

The Lovecraft Country: Sanctum kicks off this Thursday, September 3, 2020. Here is a full list of the upcoming events. For more information be sure to check out the official website. Let us know in the comments and on social media how excited you are for this event!
