Hey there! We’re back with another Love, Victor recap. Last time, Victor (Michael Cimino) declared his undying love for Benji (George Sear), who realized he needed to head off to rehab. Meanwhile, Lake (Bebe Wood) and Lucy (Ava Capri) got closer and Mia’s (Rachel Hilson) mom was just as sucky as she remembered.
In Season 3 Episode 2, “Fast Times at Creekwood High,” our heroes enjoy some unnamed substances at a party.

As this is a recap, it’s got more spoilers than Victor has storylines about being gay. You’ve been warned.
“How many ‘e’s in ‘byeeeeeee?'”
Oh right. It’s winter break, which means we’re treated to some currently out-of-season holiday festivities. Victor, our king of not knowing when to stop texting, sends Rahim (Anthony Keyvan) another text even though dude’s been leaving him on read.
Victor wants to fix their friendship, but he also needs to exposit about what he’s been up to over winter break: third-wheeling Pilar (Isabella Ferreira) and Felix (Anthony Turpel).
Next, Victor’s at work, where, for some reason, there are a lot of couply pix of him and Benji up on the wall. Felix walks in to say ‘hey’ and ask if Benji has reached out to Victor. Which, of course not; apparently they don’t allow phones in rehab.
Victor actually says, “Stupid rehab and their stupid focusing on sobriety.” O-K then. Oh, but Benji is returning this weekend. That whole thing sure blew by quickly. Victor’s worried that Benji’s moved on from him, probably having met someone in rehab. Felix doesn’t think that’s a possibility.
Then, Victor shifts course to bemoan that he’s gotta see Rahim for the first time since the wedding. Here, Felix shares his own trepidation about seeing Lake ’cause unlike Victor, Felix hasn’t even tried to reach out to the person he hurt. Yeah, something tells me Lake is doing fine.
“Strawberry tarts coming in hot.”
Meanwhile, Lake is freaking out to Mia about hoping Felix isn’t hurt when he finds out she’s dating Lucy. Mia reminds her that Felix broke up with her. Lake amends her statement; maybe it’s OK that he feel a wee bit bad.
So, Mia asks, are Lake and Lucy an official thang? Well, Lake is getting a selfie of them kissing made into a puzzle, if that’s any indication.
Then Andrew (Mason Gooding) joins this little party to bring his bae some morning pastries to relax her. Why is she stressed? Well, because Papa Mia (Mekhi Phifer) is meeting with the exiting Prez of Stanford to see if he’ll hold off retirement for one year, so Mia can graduate from Creekwood. Good job, Papa Mia.
Andrew says that no matter the outcome, they’ll figure it out. Even if Mia moves away, they’ll K.I.T. Besides, there are always 4K sexts and Apple product placements.
Having gotten their ad requirements out of the way, Mia moves on. She wants to throw a party. Papa Mia left her a credit card and it would so relieve her stress.
“It’s called stress dressing. It’s a real thing.”
Back at Casa Salazar, Isa (Ana Ortiz) is putting the “hot” in Hotlanta. She’s trying on a v sexy dress that she intends to wear to her first PFLAG meeting that Friday. Isa is a bundle of nerves about the whole thing.
Mando (James Martinez) tells her not to worry so much; it’s just a bunch of parents going through what they’re going through. But, Isa thinks the other parents are gonna judge her. Since Mando’s been at those meetings for months, they’re gonna criticize her for how long it took her to get on board.
He reassures her it’s a judgment-free zone, and then starts macking on her neck. The sexy stress dress is doing things for him, y’all.
“That’s the magic of ‘Hey.’ It’s like ‘Aloha’ or ‘Shalom.'”
Meanwhile, at Creekwood High, Felix and Victor walk up to Pilar and Rahim (totally forgot they were BFFs). Victor and Rahim exchange very loaded “heys.” Of course, Felix can’t help but draw attention to it.
Then, upon seeing Lake and Lucy round the corner, he’s immediately distracted. They’re joined by Mia and Andrew. Mia invites them to her party on Friday night. I’m confused. Why is everyone so surprised Mia is throwing a party? Wasn’t it her house party at which she and Victor first got together way back in Season 1?
Felix tries to pull Lake aside, but when she doesn’t wanna go with him, so he tells her in front of the group that he and Pilar are dating. Lake thinks that’s great and “geographically desirable.”
Lake tells Felix she’s also dating someone, and he responds by — of course — asking who the lucky guy is. Andrew grimaces. Lake plows ahead and says it’s Lucy, who in turn says, “Surprise!”

Felix’s voice drops an octave when he says, “Wow, that is so great.” Oh boy. When his voice goes back to normal, it’s not better. Boy is spiraling, talking about how happy he is for Lake, for all of them, for all involved. He even throws out the word “rebound.” Bi-panic is not a good look on you, brah.
Everyone is stoked for Mia’s party. Great.
“Go dance on a table. Not that one though. That one has weak legs.”
Time for the party. Victor is obsessively checking his phone, but Pilar and Felix point out that the rehab people aren’t going to have suddenly given Benji his phone back. Victor goes off to find Mia, leaving #Pelax alone.
Unfortunately, Felix is preoccupied; he can’t stop staring at his ex and her new boo. Pilar wants to know if he’s jealous, or just having a moment of wrapping his head around the queerness of it all. He assures her it’s the latter and whisks Pilar away to play beer pong.
Also unfortunate is that Lake can’t stop staring back. Lucy wants to know if all is well in Lake land. She says yes, but that yes is spelled n-o.
Oh Victor. Rahim arrives and Victor confidently walks up to him and asks if he’s been receiving his texts. Rahim, not even looking him in the eye, says, “Yep,” and walks right past him.
Meanwhile, Andrew is checking up on Mia just a little too often, which is having the opposite of the party’s intended effect. She heads off to hang out with other people, which gives lonely Victor an opportunity to join Andrew.
They commiserate about their stress and sadness. Behind them, two dudes (Charlie Hall, Tyler Lofton) who are high AF, share how happy they are, so Victor and Andrew take them up on their offer to share.
“They love their kids like crazy, and they’re constantly screwing up.”
At the PFLAG meeting, Isa is shocked to find out that she’s welcome. The leader of the meeting (Ajani) invites newcomers to introduce themselves, and Isa’s about to do it, but then another woman, Theresa (Nia Vardalos), steps up to bat.
Theresa shares that about a month ago, her son Asher (Garret Currier) came out. She admonishes herself for taking a whopping 30 seconds to accept him.
Isa, of course, feels like crap. Mando tells her not to worry; they don’t know Theresa’s story, maybe she’s not religious like Isa. Cue Asher telling us he was nervous to come out ’cause his parents are religious. Then, Theresa adds salt to the wound by waxing poetic about Asher’s boyfriend.
For spring break, she’s even bringing them to Miami to see a Troye Sivan show. Oh c’mon.

Mando turns to Isa and assures her that Theresa is an unusually good parent, and that “most of them are bad, like [them].” 🤣 Would it have been better for Victor had his parents immediately gotten with the program? Obviously! But the most important thing is that they did the work and they’re there now.
“I can feel your heartbeat right now.”
Back at the party, Pilar and Lucy are moping ’cause their respective partners keep staring at each other. The girls are confident their partners are into them (how refreshing!) but realize that they might have some unresolved issues to work out. What are they to do about it?
Next, the unlikely pair of Andrew and Victor wander around, high. Andrew’s hearing is better than it’s ever been; he can even hear Victor’s heartbeat! They collapse into a bear hug. Andrew thinks men should hug it out more often, which Victor fully supports.
Then, Victor spies Rahim chatting with some blonde dude inside (Dane Jamieson). He and Andrew get the brilliant idea that Victor should wingman for Rahim so that their friendship can get back on track. Before running off to do that, Victor tells Andrew he’s glad that Mia found him and that he’s nice now. Same same.
Predictably, Victor totally misread the situation and Rahim was just giving his new friend some fashion advice since his girlfriend was into Rahim’s jacket.
Finally, Rahim realizes that Victor doesn’t understand what ghosting is. So, he tells him point blank to leave him alone. Well, that doesn’t work either. Dude. Victor. You might need some classes in consent.
He runs after Rahim and accuses him of being a jerk for kissing him and ditching him after Victor decided to stay with his boyfriend (OK, they both need consent classes). Victor misses his friend and he needs friends, what with Benji being in rehab and all.
Then, he realizes maybe telling Rahim about the rehab wasn’t a great idea. Why’d he do that? Maybe because he’s high, Rahim suggests. Victor says, never mind, it’s OK, ’cause Benji told him he could tell those he trusted. And Victor trusts Rahim.
But, Rahim’s not mad that Victor “chose” his boyfriend. We seriously need better verbiage for this stuff. Chose feels so gross and possessive. He’s mad that Victor didn’t acknowledge how hard it was for Rahim to put himself out there like that, only to have Victor send him way too casual, self-centered texts.
“We had an unbreakable bond. And I broke it.”
Back at PFLAG, Isa golf claps for Theresa’s and Asher’s story. Then, the PFLAG leader asks Isa to share her story. She’s reticent at first, but Theresa encourages her.
Isa’s story comes out bitter. She tells the group, herself, that she’s a terrible mother because she judged and didn’t accept Victor for months. No one says anything to her. WTF kind of PFLAG chapter is this?
At the party, it’s time for a girlfriend intervention. Lucy and Pilar grab Lake and Felix and tell them to go work out their unresolved issues. They will not be gaslighted, they say.
Outside, Mia finds Andrew on the couch, fireside. He tells her he’s having fun, but also very, very sad. He’s feeling his feelings in a very feeling-y way. He’s trying to be supportive of her because she doesn’t need another person to take care of. But, truth be told, he’s terrified that Papa Mia’s gonna take her away.
Andrew feels like he and Mia are bigger than just a high school romance, you know? She agrees with everything he says, but she’s just trying to live in the moment.
Upstairs, Lake and Felix admit it’s difficult seeing the other with someone else, even though they don’t still wanna be with each other. So, why are they struggling? Eh, probably because they had no closure.
They were each other’s first love and they were glad for the relationship, even if they weren’t meant to be. They say goodbye to the relationship. It’s so lovely.
Downstairs, Pilar and Lucy are spiraling, thinking that maybe they didn’t make the right choice sending their partners off to work their ish out. But, Pilar says, they’re not the biggest fools around. Earlier a group of kids snorted a line of kosher salt. Hmm.
Just then, Felix and Lake return and thank their new girlfriends for making them talk it out.
“You are officially the most dramatic person I know.”
OMG Victor. Now he shows up at Khooné Rahim No-Last-Name. This time, he apologizes for making Rahim feel like he was “crazy” and that there had, in fact, been something between them. He apologizes for not giving Rahim enough space, but he’d figured that by pretending everything was OK … you know, fake it till you make it.
Victor rounds off his apology by acknowledging that if Rahim needs more space, he understands. Rahim teases him for his inability to not overdo anything. Rahim only needed Victor to acknowledge that his crush hadn’t been one-sided. And just like that, they’re back to dishing about hot boys.
Back at Casa Salazar, Isa is worn out after the meeting and is ready for bed. Mando tells her to stop beating herself up; their kiddo has already forgiven her. That may be, Isa says, but she is not ready to forgive herself.
The next morning, Andrew and Mia are cleaning up when Papa Mia returns. The Stanford Prez said no. Mia admits to having thrown a party because she figured that was going to happen. She wanted one last memory with her Creekwood people.
Papa Mia starts to say something, but then Mia cuts him off. She acknowledges that while he’s done so much for her, other people have helped raise her since he’s always traveled a lot. Andrew’s dad brought her to the hospital when her appendix burst, Lake’s mom taught her to drive, etc.
So, Mia asks if she can stay in Creekwood. Yeah. I had been wondering about that. Her friends are certainly myriad enough and rich enough to take her in for the short time remaining. I never really understood why this was an issue.
Exactly. When Papa Mia asks where she’ll live, says at Lake’s, where they have bedrooms they themselves have never entered. Papa Mia says all right; he’ll talk to the Lake’s parental units.
At the Casa Salazar, Benji knocks on Victor’s door. Victor jumps on him to give him a hug, which Benji does not return quite as effusively. He tells Victor that rehab went well, but that he’s still nowhere near well himself. And, as he’s supposed to avoid emotional triggers … well, Victor’s one of those. And this is a no-contact breakup.
Victor asks if this is what Benji wants. Benji says it’s not about what he wants, but what he needs. Victor, honey, your boyfriend is not in the space to be in a relationship. Also, you just got high at a party last night. I don’t think you’re in a space to be in a relationship with someone in recovery.
Speaking of high, the title “Fast Times at Creekwood High,” clearly implies that Andrew and Victor used weed, but the show never said. Why is that any worse than showing kids using alcohol? In many states, both drugs have the same legal usage age…
Who else is excited for a single Victor? Do you think Rahim forgave Victor too easily? Speaking of which, what did you think of Victor’s behavior towards Rahim?
OMG of the ep: “I can finally stop praying for the big one to level Stanford.”
