Welcome to this week’s installment of F2P Friday, where we highlight our favorite Free-2-Play games. The video game market is oversaturated, and sometimes hidden gems can fall through the cracks. This is where we do all the digging for you and feature a new F2P game we know you will enjoy every week. Let’s dive in.

Lost Connections

If she leaves now, you will never see her again. Would you have enough courage to take a step or stay quiet and regret it? Experience this story about love and loss. Lost Connections features a nonbinary main character and LGBTQ+.

The Basics

Let’s get down to the basics. Lost Connections is a visual novel that puts you in the shoes of an introverted loner taking confidence-boosting classes. The gameplay is as simple as it comes. You click through the dialogue and navigate social interactions. A full playthrough of Lost Connections took me about 25 minutes, so it is an easy game to finish in one sitting.

Why Should I Play?

Why should you play Lost Connections? If you want a meaningful, compact experience, this game is for you. The game says it is based on a true story about self-improvement and courage. This makes the dialogue feel fluid and believable.

What drew me in the most is certainly the illustrations, though. The artwork for this game is beautiful. The colors are vibrant, and the character designs are dynamic. Half of the content in visual novels is the art. Lost Connections nailed it.

This passion project was made by just two people, Amber Pearl and Nofar Evyoni. They did all of the writing, art, music composition and programming for the game. This is the first game for both developers on the team on Steam, but I hope to see more of their poignant storytelling in the future.
