This morning, we have the pleasure of congratulating WEBTOON creator Rachel Smythe on taking home the Harvey Award win for Digital Book of the Year. This is the second year Smythe has taken home the reward, making Lore Olympus the first series to win twice in this category. Smythe’s series has accumulated 1.2 billion views and over 6 million subscribers on WEBTOON. The graphic novel adaptations have reached the number one spot on the New York Times best sellers list. And we can’t forget that an animated series is also currently in development.
Lore Olympus is a modern-day retelling of The Taking of Persephone and dives into the world of Greek gods and goddesses. It’s packed with drama, tension, suspense, romance and everything in between. The story focuses on the relationship between Hades and Persephone but expands well past them. The series encompasses a colorful cast of characters that will either have you throwing down to protect them or wanting to push them into the pits of Tartaros. We are looking at you, Zeus.

Our real draw to Symthe’s Lore Olympus WEBTOON has always been her choice in art style and color palette. It isn’t just eye-catching and unique but plays such a big part in bringing this story to life. While we never really want this story to come to a close, we are excited to see what Smythe has up her sleeve for future projects. Will she give us more mythological retellings, or will she go down a different path? Regardless of Smythe’s choice, you can guarantee that we will be there eagerly waiting with open arms.
