This is just unfortunate to hear. Locke & Key is currently dead in the water according to an interview over at Cultured Vultures. The television adaptation was set to be based off Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodríguez‘s graphic novel series of the same name. But don’t be too sad just yet! There’s a bit of hope.

Cultured Vultures was interviewing actress Samantha Mathias when she dropped the news. She admitted to filming the pilot but learned that Hulu passed on the project. Not something an actress wants to hear let alone fans who were waiting for the project. But the hope yet comes from her follow-up answer. “I did a pilot for Hulu called Locke and Key but it didn’t get picked up by Hulu. It’s getting shopped around to Amazon and Netflix and Apple and everyone right now. Who knows, maybe that will end up some place.”

That’s right! The creators behind it are currently working on trying to get it on a network. While it’s currently still dead, they’re working on creating a zombie! Okay but in seriousness, this may just be a hiccup in the road. A lot of pilots get passed and go on to other networks. So cross your fingers, fans! There’s still hope.
