Lizzy Caplan Leads the Cast for CASTLE ROCK Season 2

Lots of news coming out of Hulu about Castle Rock season two. The anthology series will focus on the backstory of Annie Wilkes from Stephen King‘s novel and film Misery. A role made famous by Kathy Bates in the 1990 film of the same title. Lizzy Caplan has signed on to play the lead role.

According to THR, “Season two will explore a feud between warring clans that comes to a boil when budding psychopath Annie Wilkes, King’s nurse from hell, gets waylaid in Castle Rock.”

The cast also includes Tim Robbins as crime boss Reginald “Pop” Merrill, Garret Hedlund as John “Ace” Merrill, the town bully who is taking over the family business, and Matthew Alan will play Chris Merrill, John’s brother. Pop is dying of cancer and trying to reconcile things with his family, Ace threatens the peace with a nearby Somali community in Jerusalem’s Lot and Chris is trying to keep that peace intact. 

Elsie Fisher will play Annie’s teenage daughter. Yusra Warsama plays Dr. Nadia Omar, a Somali medical director in Jerusalem’s Lot and Barkhad Abdi will play her brother Abdi Omar.  Abdi is trying to establish deep Somali roots in Maine by building a Somali community center in Jerusalem’s Lot. 

Dustin Thomason and Sam Shaw developed the project for television and serve as executive producers and showrunners. King, J.J. Abrams, Ben Stephenson, Vince Calandra, and Liz Glotzer also executive produce the show. Castle Rock hails from Bad Robot Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television.

Castle Rock season two is currently in pre-production.
