The Spider-verse is getting a bit bigger, Marvel fans. According to a report from Variety, Amazon is working on a live-action untitled Spider-Man Noir series. Here is everything we know so far.
This new series is the first time the Noir version of the web-slinger has had a live-action adaptation. First introduced in comic books in 2009, Spider-Man Noir’s story is set during the Great Depression. The character receives a bite from a spider hidden in a stolen artifact. Soon after, the protagonist begins to see visions of a spider god who gives him superpowers. So far, plot details are not available for the live-action series. However, Variety’s report indicates that the protagonist will not be Peter Parker, and the story will take place in its own universe.

Even though this is Spider-Man Noir’s first foray into live-action, he has had two previous animated appearances. In Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Nicolas Cage voiced the noir web-slinger, and in Ultimate Spider-Man, Milo Ventimiglia lent his voice to the character. No information has yet been released regarding who will take up the more cynical version of everyone’s favorite web-slinger in the new series.
Allegedly, the Amazon series will take place in 1930s New York City. Unlike the younger, carefree webheads, Spider-Man Noir will feature an older “grizzled” character.
