NASA’s Mars Rover mission is coming in 2020.  They’ve been considering four different landing sites on the red planet.  On Monday, November 19, they’re going to make the announcement of which site they have picked, live for all to hear!

The Mars Rover is scheduled to launch in 2020.  It will touchdown on the surface of Mars in 2021 and begin its search for ancient life.  The rover will gather and store samples that could be brought back to Earth at some time in the future.  Space.com reported on Sunday.

The selection of the site comes after a conference in October, where scientists heard the merits of four site candidates and voted for their preference. They voted for either Columbia Hills, Jezero Crater, Northeast Syrtis or Midway.  Midway was a late add, as it is right in the middle of Jezero Crater and Northeast Syrtis.  Scientists hope that Midway might give an opportunity to explore both of those neighboring sites as well.  The results of the vote were sent to NASA as a recommendation before making their final selection.

NASA will announce its site selection on Monday at 12pm EST (9am for us on the west coast).  You can tune in live to NASA Live on NASA TV to hear and see for yourself!
