DISCLAIMER: This recap of the Letterkenny episode “VidVok” has spoilers. Proceed at your peril.
When a friend asks for help, you help them. We’ve reached Letterkenny‘s penultimate episode of the season, “VidVok,” which bids farewell to Shoresy. He’s the foul-mouthed, bawdy hockey player serving as Reilly and Jonesy’s nemesis. Letterkenny‘s getting a spin-off series: Shoresy. This new six-episode comedy focuses on Shoresy’s move to North Ontario as he plays for a senior AAA hockey team.
Perhaps it’s poetic, in a way, that Wayne finally meets Shoresy after ten seasons, even though it happens to be the latter’s last day. Of course, Jared Keeso brilliantly plays both characters. But I think his departure would pack more of a punch if Jonesy and Reilly were there to witness it. Maybe they’ll guest star on his new show.
“VidVok” showcases fantastic Skid scenes with plenty of Hockey player cheekiness, which is never a disappointment.
Ready to delve into “VidVok”? Let’s get to it.

We cold open with Gail (Lisa Codrington), a welcome change of pace from the usual Wayne fare. She chats it up with McMurray (Dan Petronijevic) and Mrs. McMurray (Melanie Scrofano) during her shift at MoD3an’s. The trio strikes a deal — if Gailer gets grossed out by the story the McMurrays are about to tell, she owes them beer. But if Gailer remains stoic throughout, they must buy her beer.
Honestly, I’m happy to see Melanie Scrofano on my screen again.
The McMurrays regale ole Gailer with a tale about Myrtle Beach and their sexual escapades. Gailer stays stonefaced for most of the story until she learns someone didn’t remove their socks during risqué foreplay.
Mrs. McMurray feels like a drunker, more sexually explicit version of Wynonna Earp. But she loves gin and tonics instead of whiskey.

Later, Wayne (Keeso) meets with Tanis (Kaniehtiio Horn) outside the Kerry County Eagles hockey rink. After poking fun at him for being a square, Wayne’s favorite shape, Tanis reveals she needs someone to operate the Zamboni while she “bonis” her new lady lay, the Brodude rep.
Meanwhile, Stewart (Tyler Johnston) discovers that Aly (Sasha Striga) and Bianca (Nadine Bhabha) like the Hockey bros now, a.k.a. Reilly (Dylan Playfair) and Jonesy (Andrew Herr). Roald (Evan Stern) comforts the devastated STRT.
Even though Stewart boasts about having 20,000 followers on SoundCloud for his DJ outfit “2C*ck Chakur,” Aly and Bianca reveal actual fame comes from VidVok, Letterkenny‘s version of TikTok.
Reilly and Jonesy show the Skids their VidVok videos featuring their butts. They stuff their shorts in their cracks, flex their cheeks and watch their follower count catapult to new heights. Stewart scoffs at their VidVoks, asserting that the Skids can outperform the Hockey bros.
Later, Wayne shows up for his Zamboni shift at the hockey rink. He spots Shoresy (Keeso) skating feverishly across the ice. Tanis informs him that Shoresy will soon move north to her cousin’s senior AAA team. Wayne notes his admiration of Shoresy’s work ethic.
After Zamboni-ing the hell out of the ice, Wayne finds Shoresy outside verbally sparring with some gents. Wayne observes from afar while Shoresy brutally eviscerates them with his words.

Next, Stewart and Roald approach Katy (Michelle Mylett) and Rosie (Clark Backo) for advice. What exactly are the kids into these days? Stewart believes they should do what the Skids always do — sniff some schneef and jump around.
The Skids prepare physically and mentally for their trip to Schneef Land. Then, they record VidVok videos of the creative ways they snort cocaine, almost all of them involving the local playground. Admittedly, it’s original.
Then, Tanis asks Wayne to teach Axe (Bradley Trudeau) and Slash (Dylan Cook) “how to drive ‘Boni.” Shoresy energetically skates until he vomits. It’s the Shoresy way. Once Wayne and the boys finish Zamboni-ing, they find Shoresy squaring off against the same men plus a few more, leaving him outnumbered.
Thus, Wayne, Axe and Slash come to Shoresy’s rescue as a good ole fashioned scrap takes place.
Later, Bianca and Aly inform Stewart and Roald that VidVok banned 2C*ck Chakur. It might have something to do with snorting cocaine on video, an illegal substance, and sharing it on social media. Reilly and Jonesy show the Skids their latest compilation of butt videos. I want to point out their VidVok name is called “@reillyjonesybuttart,” which makes me giggle.
On the same note, the last clip features the Hockey players exposing their cheeks while Squirrely Dan (K. Trevor Wilson) drives by on a tractor. It’s hysterical to me, but I’m also an intellectual and also 12 years old.

Katy scolds the Skids for setting a terrible example for the “kids with problems” in Letterkenny (the title of a Season Nine episode). Katy’s presence frightens the Skids, and I reiterate — the sheer power.
Meanwhile, Wayne arrives at the rink for his Zamboni time, but Tanis tells him she won’t need him anymore. It’s Shoresy’s last night, after all. So, after cleaning up the ice, Wayne catches Shoresy before the latter leaves for good, and they shake hands.
Since Keeso plays both characters, the universe explodes.

“VidVok” continues to play with the Skids and Hockey players’ dynamic, and it’s one of my favorites on the show. The Skid montages are hilarious. Knowing this is Shoresy’s final hurrah on Letterkenny casts the episode in a bittersweet light. I’ll miss his interactions with this cast, but I’m excited to see how he vibes with the new characters on his series.
This season feels directionless and hollow in some places, but I’ll chalk that up to the pandemic. I assume strict protocols severely limited what Letterkenny could do. The last few seasons have recycled some jokes here and there, and I hope this is just a dry spell for the show.
Season 10 of Letterkenny is now streaming on Hulu.
