Letterkenny Season 10 Episode 3 Dyck Meat

DISCLAIMER: This recap of the Letterkenny episode “Dyck Meat” has spoilers. Proceed at your peril.

Sneaky as the dickens! It’s hard to believe we’re halfway through Letterkenny Season 10, folks. “Dyck Meat” revisits Noah Dyck and his knack for effortless, unintentional sexual innuendos. While the suggestive language flows at a sausage party, the Chel puns fill the air at the Skids and Hockey players’ video game get-together.

Letterkenny is a writer’s wet dream — the clever dialogue drives this show. From its use of rhyme schemes to puns, innuendos and punchlines, the Letterkenny writers pull out all the stops regarding inventive dialogue.

While this episode feels entirely too short, it’s a good one. “Dyck Meat” blesses us with more Skid scenes, and any time they interact with the Hockey players is sure to be entertaining.

Ready to delve into “Dyck Meat”? Let’s get to it.

We open with Daryl (Nathan Dales) and Squirrely Dan (K. Trevor Wilson) engrossed in a spat over Katy’s fluffy tarts. Squirrely Dan promised to share half a pastry with Daryl, but the said half crumbled and fell to the floor. Wayne (Jared Keeso), an objective third party, swoops in to settle the argument. Dary reminds Squirrely Dan he consumes food off the floor constantly.

Katy (Michelle Mylett) enters the fray and shares half of her tart with Dary, thereby putting the kibosh on the dispute. I love the not-so-subtle innuendo in this scene.

Of course, with the arrival of Mennonite Noah Dyck (Jonathan Torrens), the blatant innuendo doesn’t stop there. Noah invites the Hick boys to a “sausage party” on his farm. Not only will they sample succulent sausages, but there won’t be a woman in sight. It’s a sausage shindig, figuratively and literally.

Torrens executes the stream of sexual innuendos to perfection, and it’s a wonder he doesn’t break character every few seconds. But he’s a versatile performer in his own right, and this role is a far cry from J-Roc.

Dary doesn’t want to go because Noah’s unintentional innuendos make him uncomfortable, while Squirrely Dan hopes to catch a glimpse of Lovina. Regardless, the guys agree to attend the Dyck meat party.

Meanwhile, Stewart (Tyler Johnston), Roald (Evan Stern) and the Skids dance it up in front of the local convenience store. Reilly (Dylan Playfair) and Jonesy (Andrew Herr) approach the schneef-loving quartet. The Skids point the Hockey bros toward a fake supplement store in Letterkenny. Then, they ask Jonesy and Reilly if they want to rip Chel (EA Sports NHL) at Stewart’s mom’s house. STRT!

I love that Reilly and Jonesy sport matching outfits in this episode.

Next, Wayne, Daryl and Squirrely Dan arrive at Noah’s residence to put some Dyck meat in their mouths. Wayne and Squirrely Dan cast all innuendo aside, genuinely excited to taste the sausages Noah whips up.

Then, the Skids and Hockey players rip Chel, but, unfortunately, the latter loses spectacularly. Reilly and Jonesy bash their heads into the wall at Stewart’s mom’s home. Stewart finds their rage fascinating, while Roald’s aroused. Oh, toxic masculinity! Get these guys some f**kin’ Puppers.

Noah and the Hicks chat while the sausages cook. The Skids and Hockey bros engage in round two of their Chel-ing, resulting in more violent outbursts from Jonesy and Reilly. Hey, the boys need their beta-blockers or some — wait for it — Chel pills. They accuse the Skids of cheating.

Meanwhile, Noah presents the Hicks with the cooked Dyck meat, ready for tasting. The guys issue a bevy of food puns as Noah brings out different sausage types. I’m partial to Wayne’s “Never so bad it couldn’t be wurst.”

The Hicks’ jokes make Noah laugh so hard he collapses on the ground in a fit of flatulence. I’m an intellectual, and I say farts are always funny.

Later, the Hockey bros and the Skids exchange apologies and gaming consoles. They decide to play another video game together, perhaps one less incendiary for the muscleheads.

While the guys feast on Dyck meat aplenty, Noah’s wife, Anita Dyck (Sarah Wayne Callies), their daughter and his sister Lovina (Brooke Bruce) join the sausage party. They bring sweet sap treats on which to suck and some creamy Dyck milk. The boys decline the Dyck milk offer emphatically.

Torrens needs to appear more regularly on Letterkenny, and that’s an order, once. Sure, the “Dyck” jokes might not appeal to someone who doesn’t enjoy 8th-grade-boy humor, but this show embraces both low-brow and high-brow comedy. Variety is the spice of life!

Side note: Where’s Glen? MoD3an’s isn’t the same without him!

Season 10 of Letterkenny is now streaming on Hulu.
