Letterkenny Season 10 Episode 2 Dealership

DISCLAIMER: This recap of the Letterkenny episode “Dealership” has spoilers. Proceed at your peril.

How’re ya now? Good, ‘n you? Letterkenny‘s second episode of the season, “Dealership,” realigns the show after a somewhat lackluster start. We finally get answers regarding Marie-Fred’s reappearance in Letterkenny. I get more of my Skids. In addition, the series blesses us with a heaping helping of McMurray, and you can’t go wrong with him. McMurray and Wayne’s interactions are some of my favorites on the show.

Since McMurray showed up, I hoped we’d also get Mrs. McMurray, but I can always do with more Melanie Scrofano on my screen. Earpers know what I mean.

“Dealership” offers excellent comedic moments, solid guest stars and a lighthearted episodic plot that gave me a hankering for Caesars.

Ready to delve into “Dealership”? Let’s get to it.

We open with Wayne (Jared Keeso) and Katy (Michelle Mylett), ushering us into the episode’s cold open. Wayne, Katy, Squirrely Dan (K. Trevor Wilson) and Daryl (Nathan Dales) debate about who has the most “hick” cousins — Daryl or Squirrely Dan. Katy and Wayne state their cases, and, as it turns out, Daryl’s family takes the cake. Hearing some of these hick tidbits reminds me of growing up in my hometown.

As usual, the Hicks share fantastic repartee with easy chemistry.

Later, while Katy, Daryl, Squirrely Dan and Rosie (Clark Backo) spend some time outside, we finally learn why Marie-Fred approached Wayne at the energy drink launch. She wants to purchase a truck at the local dealership and needs Wayne’s brilliant dickering skills to do it. Even though Marie-Fred is Wayne’s ex, Rosie trusts him not to stray.

Daryl’s butthurt because Wayne didn’t choose him to be his dickering partner. We see McMurray (Dan Petronijevic) arrive at the dealership with Wayne, wherein Marie-Fred (Magalie Lépine Blondeau) waits for them. Who’s better at dickering than ole McMurray himself?

Meanwhile, at MoD3an’s, Bonnie McMurray (Kamilla Kowal) officiates the Caesar building competition. Of course, our Hicks compete, while Jonesy (Andrew Herr) and Reilly (Dylan Playfair) represent the Hockey bros, Stewart (Tyler Johnston) and Roald (Evan Stern) rep the Skids and Gailer (Lisa Codrington), Rosie and Bonnie compete for MoD3an’s.

Jimmy Dickskin (Alex McCooeye) and his fellow auctioneers will tally the votes for each team from the audience. Anik (Kim Cloutier) stands in for Bonnie as Master of Ceremonies, and everyone ogles her, including my bisexual queen, Katy. The Hockey bros and Skids try to call “dibs.”

The prize for winning the Caesar competition is free drinks for the night.

We kick off the festivities with Katy, Daryl and Squirrely Dan’s Caesar concoction. Not going to lie; I wish Caesars were more of a thing in the States because these look so damn tasty.

Next, at the dealership, McMurray, Wayne and Marie-Fred meet Lisa (Anna Hopkins), the dealership rep with whom they’ll be dickering. It’s Monica Stuart (Expanse fans get it)!

Lisa immediately puts her xenophobia on display when she insults French drivers before Marie-Fred. After their initial encounter, Lisa departs to chat with the “big boss.” Wayne and McMurray pick up on Lisa’s subtle tactics, namely the “mirroring” of their postures.

Later, at MoD3an’s, the Hockey bros showcase their Caesar creation. So far, the judges and audience members are impressed with each team’s submissions.

Lisa returns to bargain with our crew in her office. I love the running bit wherein Lisa continuously calls McMurray by the wrong name. While they talk, McMurray incessantly “mansplains” every term Lisa throws out. McMurray and Wayne dicker like there’s no tomorrow. Once again, Lisa leaves to confer with her superior.

Back at MoD3an’s, the Hicks debate who has the most redneck relatives, even though Daryl rose victorious on that front earlier. The Skids present their version of a Caesar, and Stewart and Roald’s general demeanor always makes me laugh. Their attempts at British accents crack me up.

The dickering at the dealership resumes, and Marie-Fred offers to pay Lisa cash upfront. However, Marie-Fred wants to chip in less than the asking price. When Lisa refuses to budge, Marie-Fred replays the former’s nasty remark about French drivers. What if Marie-Fred shares it with the big boss? Lisa agrees reluctantly to Marie-Fred’s deal.

Then, Rosie, Gailer and Bonnie put their Caesar concoction on display. Anik declares them the winners, but Dickskin counters that each team tallied the same number of points. Gailer concurs — MoD3an’s will pick up the tab! I love that Dickskin gets increasingly more intoxicated throughout the competition. Ergo, everyone wins free drinks.

Meanwhile, Wayne opens the door of Marie-Fred’s newly acquired truck. A charged moment lingers between them, but Wayne departs, leaving Marie-Fred forlornly staring while he goes. Well, briefly, that is. Methinks this won’t be the last we see of her.

Later, Wayne returns from his trip to the dealership. Rosie thanks him for keeping her updated throughout the day. She reiterates that Wayne hasn’t given her a reason to mistrust him (yet). So, all’s well that ends well.

“Dealership” doesn’t catalyze an overarching seasonal narrative, but Letterkenny‘s known for more contained, standalone episodes. The next outing, “Dyck Meat,” marks the return of the always-brilliant Jonathan Torrens as Noah Dyck, a Mennonite man with an unfortunate name.

In “Dyck Meat,” we’re getting more hang time with the Skids and Hockey boys. Wondrous!

Still, no Glen, but I’m holding fast to hope he’ll turn up soon.

Season 10 of Letterkenny is now streaming on Hulu.
