Sure we’re all excited about Deadpool right now and sure we’ve got Dawn of Justice and Civil War coming out soon after that, but the real excitement, the thing to truly be excited about, has just been announced.

Lego: Marvel’s Avengers.

It finally has an official release date, some story news and some pictures to get us all even more excited than we already were.

So, of course, you’re dying to know when you can get your hot little hands on this highly-anticipated game. January 26, 2016. It’ll be playable on Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita, Wii U, Nintendo 3DS and PC. So unless you’re sporting an N64, you should be golden on this.

But what’s this news we’re talking about. We can hear you asking, so here’s your answer. Game Director Arthur Parsons spoke with Comic Book Resources at SDCC, talking about how they merged the plots for both 2012’s Avengers film with this year’s Avengers: Age of Ultron, he said,

“It’s not like in the old games where you’d play ‘Avengers’ and then play ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron. That wouldn’t work because of the time lapse in between. So what we’ve done is stitch them together. Our opening level is the beginning of ‘Ultron,’ where they’re attacking von Strucker’s castle, but when Tony grabs Loki’s staff, it segues to the scene from ‘Avengers’ when Loki got the staff, and you then play through the rest of ‘Avengers.'”

And finally, what about the characters. In the previous Lego Marvel title, the story was completely unique to the game and featured over a hundred playable heroes and villains, but here, they’re basing the game on the movies, which would seem to limit your choices. But once more, fret not, for there will be plenty of other comics-specific heroes in the game.

We’ve got Ms. Marvel,

Squirrel Girl,

Speed (from the Young Avengers)

and the New Thor!
