Since it’s beginnings in 2015, a total of 11 shows have made their way to Los Angeles, including HBO’s Ballers and Veep.
According to the California Film Commission Lucifer and Legion will be making their way from Vancouver, BC and The Affair and The OA will be moving from New York.
The CFC’s executive director, Amy Lemisch, had this to say:
We’re wrapping up year-two of Program 2.0 on a very high note with a record number of relocating TV series, The tax credit program is working as intended to reaffirm California’s status as the preferred choice for film and TV production.
In addition, other tax credit recipients include Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, Snowfall, Behind Enemy Lines, Mayans MC, S.W.A.T. and The Get.
Over the past several years, productions left Los Angeles because other cities were simply offering better incentives. It was cheaper to shoot in Atlanta, Vancouver, North Carolina, Toronto or New Orleans, just to name a few, then it was to stay in Los Angeles.
Bringing these shows back is great news for us locals. The shows coming back will produce about $620 million in direct in-state spending, including $235 million in wages to more than 4,400 crew and cast members. It will also bring Dan Stevens to Los Angeles. This is good for all of us.
