Guys, Laura Dern just gave us such a great Star Wars gift. We haven’t seen much of her character but that’s all changed after today. At least, we have a better look at her character in a brand new image! And as a bonus, we can see Resistance members in the background, including a new BB unit.
In her appearance on The Ellen Show, Dern had to keep mum about her role in The Last Jedi. But she did share a story from the set that director and writer Rian Johnson and she has previously shared. During a scene her character, Vice Admiral Amilyn Holdo, will wield a blaster and Dern couldn’t control her excitement. She’s on film making “pew pew” noises. While she finds it embarrassing, we can’t exactly blame her. Being in Star Wars is exciting! She also talked briefly about working with Carrie Fisher.
What’s exciting for us fans is another look at Holdo. We know she’s a government authority within the Resistance but we don’t much more outside of that. Those who have read the novel Leia: Princess of Alderaan by Claudia Grey learned of her goofy nature when befriending Leia as young adults. Does she retain her goofiness? The image we’re shown doesn’t really portray that, as she looks very stern while addressing the Resistance members.
Speaking of those Resistance members, I only recognize one member: Vober Dand, who we first saw in The Force Awakens. There also appears to be a Resistance BB unit in the shot. Very possibly it’s 2BB-2, whom we saw in Force Friday promotions. Honestly, the more BB units the better!
What do you think of the image? Are you looking forward to seeing Holdo on screen? Let us know! Check out the clip below and be sure to come back to Geek Girl Authority for more Star Wars news! The Last Jedi (isn’t here fast enough) will be in theaters December 15th.
