A Return to the Apocalypse
Good news, Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey fans! HBO released two new images from The Last of Us Season 2 featuring the show’s stars Joel and Ellie. Read on to find out what else we know about Season 2.

The Last of Us Season 1 premiered on January 15, 2023. Based on the 2013 game of the same name, the show was an immediate hit. The first episode nabbed 22 million viewers, HBO’s second-largest debut behind House of the Dragon.
The official synopsis for Season 1 reads “The Last of Us takes place 20 years after modern civilization has been destroyed. Joel, a hardened survivor, is hired to smuggle Ellie, a 14-year-old girl, out of an oppressive quarantine zone. What starts as a small job soon becomes a brutal and heartbreaking journey as they both must traverse the U.S. and depend on each other for survival.”
In addition to Pascal and Ramsey, Season 1 featured Gabriel Luna, Anna Torv, Nico Parker and more. Murray Bartlett and Nick Offerman also starred in the fan-favorite third episode as Frank and Bill. While some of these actors won’t be back for Season 2, writers and executive producers Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann will return.

As for Season 2, we’ve received a few casting announcements already. Kaitlyn Dever will appear as Abby, a character from the video games, along with Isabela Merced as Dina, Young Mazino as Jesse, Tati Gabrielle as Nora and Danny Ramirez as Manny. Catherine O’Hara will also guest star in an unnamed role.
