In The Last Jedi, Kylo Ren told Rey to let the past die. Bury it, if she had to. However it appears that Kylo is going to struggle a bit with his own past. A new rumor suggests that Kylo’s costume will be bringing back an element we thought he buried for Star Wars: Episode IX. Minor spoilers below!
Thanks to Yakface on Twitter, we saw images of an upcoming toy line featuring characters from Hasbro. It includes a new rank of Stormtrooper, a Mountain Trooper, with a very distinct mask. Additionally there’s a new leader for the troopers, Commander Pyre (from Star Wars Resistance), who dons gold armor in contrast to the chrome of Captain Phasma. The biggest note comes in the form of Kylo Ren who is once again wearing his mask. The one he smashed to pieces after being belitted by Snoke. He’s also wearing his cape again so he’s back to fanboying over Darth Vader, should these toys be from Episode IX.

The biggest question I have is – if he thought he was better than the mask, why is he wearing it again? According to a report by Star Wars News Net, the helmet is seemingly the same one he had, as it’s rumored to be repaired with “red adhesive” of some sort. Having him wear the mask again doesn’t seem to make sense unless it has to do with his emotional state. When Rey refused to join him after he killed his master and Luke made a fool of him, did it make him spiral out of control again? Is it purely for intimidation purposes? Does it make him feel stronger in front of his militia? Of course he’s going to be taking the helmet off during the film, more than likely when facing Rey. What causes him to don the mask once more will be a question we have to wait on the answer for.
What do you think of Kylo wearing his mask again? Are we looking too much into this or will you speculate along with us? Let us know! Be sure to come back to Geek Girl Authority for more Star Wars news. Star Wars: Episode IX finishes the new saga trilogy on December 20th, 2019.
