Well well well.
It seems as if we are finally getting some rumors regarding casting for two of Marvel and Fox’s most highly-anticipated roles in the upcoming sequel to Deadpool — the bad ass probability-warping mutant assassin Domino, and the time-traveling mutant son of Scott Summers and Jean Grey, Nate Summers, a.k.a. Cable.
There have been no rumors regarding Domino’s casting before now, but there have been plenty of actors poking their heads up for for Cable — Stephen Lang, Ron Perlman, Dolph Lundgren. But now, thanks to Jeff Sneider on his show Meet the Movie Press, we’ve actually got a name for both Cable and Domino.
First up — Cable.
As Sneider says, “People were talking about Cable from Deadpool 2. There’s been a name floating around for Cable for months. Hasn’t changed. Don’t know if its changed. Didn’t make any calls about this. This was just the name that has been out there for months. So take this with a gigantic grain of salt. The biggest grain of salt your tiny little brain can imagine. The name that is floating around for Cable right now is Kyle Chandler.”
Kyle Chandler is the name.
And, just who is Kyle Chandler? He is a fifty year old actor, so his age is just about right, and is known for his roles in Super 8 and Zero Dark Thirty, though it’s his work on Bloodline and Friday Night Lights that may have helped him the most in this casting. Well, that is, if he got the part. In fact, he won an Emmy for Friday Night Lights, so he’s legit.
Then there’s Domino. As Sneider says, “The name for Domino, who is said to be the scene-stealer of the movie, is Mackenzie Davis.”
Davis is known mostly for her role in The Martian as well as the AMC series, Halt and Catch Fire.
