The cast of Sony’s upcoming Marvel flick Kraven the Hunter continues to expand! On Tuesday, we learned from Deadline that Fred Hechinger joins the fray opposite Aaron Taylor-Johnson in the titular role. While Deadline reveals it’s unconfirmed, sources claim The White Lotus star will portray Chameleon, the brother of Kraven.
J.C. Chandor helms the project with a script by Art Marcum, Matt Holloway and Richard Wenk.
Created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, Kraven the Hunter made his comic book debut in The Amazing Spider-Man #15 in August 1964. He served as an antagonist to Spidey and has since duked it out with Black Panther, Venom and Tigra, among others. Kraven seeks to prove himself as the world’s greatest hunter, with abilities including enhanced physical attributes, hand-to-hand combat and tracking skills. He’s also one of the founding members of the Sinister Six.

Chameleon is the half-brother of Kraven, splashing onto the comic book scene in The Amazing Spider-Man initial issue in March 1963. Also created by Ditko and Lee, Chameleon possesses the uncanny ability to impersonate anybody. He’s a master of disguise.
Sony endeavors to build its cache of Marvel properties, with Spider-Man: No Way Home breaking countless box office records to become the biggest film of 2021. It grossed $1.7 billion in worldwide sales. Venom: Let There Be Carnage also fared well for the company, raking in $500 million globally. The Jared Leto-led Morbius is next on the studio’s roster, slated for release on April 1.
Fred Hechinger starred as Quinn Mossbacher in HBO’s The White Lotus, his breakout role. He’s currently appearing as Seth Warshavsky in Hulu’s Pam & Tommy. Hechinger’s next project is Scott Cooper‘s The Pale Blue Eye alongside Christian Bale, with a purported debut this year.
I haven’t seen Hechinger in action yet, but I’m curious to see how Sony pulls off Kraven the Hunter. Regardless of what happens, I’m here for the ride.
