Deadpool wouldn’t be Deadpool without an F-bomb or two. Marvel head honcho Kevin Feige confirmed that Deadpool 3, starring Ryan Reynolds, is an MCU film and will have an R rating, according to Collider.

“It will be rated R and we are working on a script right now, and Ryan’s overseeing a script right now… It will not be [filming] this year. Ryan is a very busy, very successful actor. We’ve got a number of things we’ve already announced that we now have to make, but it’s exciting for it to have begun. Again, a very different type of character in the MCU, and Ryan is a force of nature, which is just awesome to see him bring that character to life.” – Kevin Feige, Marvel Studios President.

So when will we see Deadpool 3? Currently, Marvel has their hands full with an overload of Disney Plus shows and the upcoming slate of films. WandaVision premieres next week while The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Hawkeye and Loki are all wrapping up production. Thor: Love and Thunder and Spider-Man 3 are currently in production. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Black Panther 2 and Captain Marvel 2 are scheduled to start filming later this year.

Lizzie Molyneux-Loeglin and Wendy Molyneux are writing the Deadpool script with Reynolds. The third Deadpool film is set to start production in 2022. That’s a long time to wait, I know. Who knows?  But, now that Deadpool is officially in the MCU, maybe he will pop up in a film or two before then. For now, it appears the next Deadpool film will be released sometime … at the earliest … in 2023.
