Kerry Washington and Rashida Jones are bringing some more girl power to the big screen. Deadline reported Friday that the two stars are set to produce and adapt/direct, respectively, a film version of the well-loved graphic novel Goldie Vance, by Eisner award-winning writer Hope Larson and artist Brittney Williams.
The word on the street is that Washington and Jones have their eye on the graphic novel series from BOOM! Studios for an equally awesome series of films down the line. In a statement about the project, Jones said, “Goldie is exactly the kind of fearless, curious, and funny heroine we need right now,” And, we have to agree. Here’s a short synopsis for those of you that are unfamiliar with the female driven detective series…
Set at a historical Miami resort, follows sixteen-year-old Goldie Vance, a mixed race, precocious and highly detail-oriented teenager with ambitions of becoming the hotel’s in-house detective; but getting embroiled in uncovering an international crime ring will challenge her in ways she never imagined.
There are not any dates set for this project, as it’s still in the early stages of development, but Goldie Vance fans can rejoice! Stay tuned for more details.
Actor, Improviser, Comic.
I like to like things and talk about them.
I like to pretend.
I like to make things.
I like to write things down.
