A few more familiar faces will be traveling to an animated galaxy far, far away this holiday season! The LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special is shaping up to be the talk of the town.
Variety reports that actors Kelly Marie Tran, Billy Dee Williams and Anthony Daniels will be reprising their roles for the animated special, which is slated to stream on Disney Plus. Tran (Rose Tico), Williams (Lando Calrissian) and Daniels (C-3PO) will be joining a handful of Star Wars: The Clone Wars actors. Matt Lanter (Anakin Skywalker), Tom Kane (Yoda, Qui-Gon Jinn), James Arnold Taylor (Obi-Wan Kenobi) and Dee Bradley Baker (clone troopers) will also be participating in the special.
The LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special focuses on Rey, Finn, Poe, Rose, Chewie and the droids as they celebrate Life Day. Life Day is a holiday spectacular that was initially introduced in the 1978 Star Wars Holiday Special. It’s primarily celebrated on Chewie’s home planet of Kashyyyk. Rey embarks on a journey with her trusty sidekick BB-8 to garner a deeper understanding of the Force. Of course, journeys of any kind are incomplete without encounters along the way. Rey comes across Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, Yoda, Obi-Wan and more.
The LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special is directed by Ken Cunningham. While the events of said special take place after Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, the Disney Plus feature is loosely based on the 1978 installment.
I’m so tickled to see actors from the film franchise joining the fray for The LEGO Star Wars Special. Additionally, Daniels was in the 1978 special over 40 years ago, so I’m glad to see him returning. Here’s hoping more actors from the Skywalker saga will follow suit.
