In an interview with, Keanu Reeves revealed the official title of the third John Wick installment as John Wick 3: Parabellum. So what does parabellum mean?  Reeves explained that the word comes from the latin phrase, ‘Si vis pacem, para bellum’, meaning “If you want peace, prepare for war.”  Sound simple enough; especially since the High Table has officially declared war on John Wick.

The first film focused on John Wick’s return to the criminal underground after a punk kid kills his dog and steals his car. The kid is the son of one of the crime bosses, so naturally, Wick is up against an entire army.

In part two, Wick is pulled back into the underworld when a favor is called in.  That favor led to Wick killing a member of the High Table on neutral ground.  Wick was excommunicated from that criminal underworld.  He was last seen running out of Central park.  There is a price on his head and he doesn’t have a lot of hiding places.

In the third installment, Wick is trying to survive and get out of New York. The High Table put a $14 million dollar price on his head, so everyone…and I do mean everyone, is looking for Wick.  Wick turns to the service industry for help in escaping, but really…who can he trust?

The movie also stars Halle Berry, Angelicia Houston, Aisa Kate Dillon, Jason Mantzoukas and Mark Dacascos  There’s a possibility that Ian McShane, Lance Reddick, and Laurence Fishburne could return as well.

John Wick 3: Parabelleum is written by Derek Kolstad and Chad Stahelski.  Stahelski is also directing the third movie.

John Wick 3: Parabellum arrives in theaters May 17, 2019.
