Updated on:

Another month is around the corner and it’s time to look at all of our most anticipated video games dropping soon. June officially kicks off the summer season. Kids are out of school, and vacations and shore trips are an absolute must. Now normally the video game release schedule tends to slow down, but this year we still have a lot to look forward to. June in particular seems to have some really heavy hitters along with some hidden indie gems. So keep reading to check out which video game should be on your must-play list!

We Love Katamari REROLL + Royal Reverie

Our first most anticipated video game in June is We Love Katamari REROLL + Royal Reverie. It is the second Katamari series game that we have gotten a remake for, which makes me hopeful that we will see new entries in the series soon. For now, however, we have a remastered look and a new mode to try out that lets players take control of a young King of All Cosmos in five brand-new challenges.

We Love Katamari REROLL + Royal Reverie drops on June 2, 2023, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.

Final Fantasy 16

Would this be the most anticipated list without Square Enix’s Final Fantasy 16? The never-ending franchise has lived within our hearts for decades and only continues to grow. This time we are visiting Valisthea where the legacy of crystals has shaped their history long enough. The world-building and story alone are enough to want to dive into this absolute gem but tie that in with what we have seen of the battle system and it’s clear why this is a must-play in our book.

Final Fantasy 16 drops on June 22, 2023, for PlayStation 5.

Goodbye Volcano High

High school is supposed to be the start of your life, but what if it’s the end of the world? Goodbye Volcano High invites you to navigate Fang’s final year of high school during the impending apocalypse. This is a narrative-adventure game from developer KO_OP that combines rhythmic elements with a branching narrative to create a uniquely melancholy experience with a stand-out art style. Fans of games like Night in the Woods will fall in love with the darker tones, musical theming, and choice-based elements.

Goodbye Volcano High drops on June 5, 2023, for PC through Steam, PlayStation 4, and PS5.

Layers of Fear

There is a reason that when you hear “horror video game” you instantly think of Bloober Team. They have become an incredible household name within the industry and are back with the third and final installment, Layers of Fear. All stories must come to an end and fans of their first two games are finally getting theirs. The narrative-driven first-person psychological horror game is diving into the story of The Writer and players will get answers that link all of the stories together.

Layers of Fear releases on June 15, 2023, on PC through Steam and the Epic Game Store, PS5, and the Xbox Series X/S.

Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life

The end of the month will see us enjoying a remake of one of the Harvest Moon series’s most beloved games, now titled Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life. If you are unfamiliar with the series, it is a farm life simulator at its core. You’ll explore the area, build relationships with the townsfolk, navigate the changing seasons, and grow your farm into an independent success through cultivating plants or other tasks.

Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life releases on June 27, 2023, for PC through Steam, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and the Nintendo Switch.

Diablo 4

Our final most anticipated video game for June is nonother than Blizzard Entertainment‘s Diablo 4. We have been waiting years (insert Rose meme) for this to finally grace our PCs and gaming consoles and it is finally here. The action role-playing game takes what we love from previous entries into the franchise and adds in things like an open-world feel and player-versus-player action. It will launch with five playable classes, sorcerer, necromancer, rogue, barbarian, and druid. So the real question is – where will you start?

Diablo 4 drops on June 6, 2023, for PC through the Battle Net launcher, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
