June: Arguably one of the biggest months of the year for video games. With E3 2019 just days away, we can look forward to title announcements, upcoming console teases, and a number of gaming surprises. But before all that can happen, we’ve got a number of games to enjoy this June! Here are our top pick of the new titles that you should be playing this month

Persona Q2: New Cinema Labyrinth

What do you get when you combine  Personas 3, 4, and 5 ? Persona Q2: Cinema Labyrinth of course! In this dungeon-crawler turn-based RPG, prepare to journey back into Mementos with the infamous Phantom Thieves. Meet up with your favorite characters from Persona 3 and Persona 4, and take down the enemies that lie within this cryptic cinema! You and your team must methodically map the film labyrinths and fight to change their endings! And with limited resources, strategic gameplay is the difference between making it to a checkpoint, or losing your progress. Will YOU be able to find your way out? Persona Q2: New Cinema Labyrinth is now available for the Nintendo 3DS. (Emily)

Slay the Spire

Speaking of dungeon crawlers, if you’re a fan of card-based battle and rouge-like games, then Slay the Spire is the Summer title for you! Choose from either The Ironclad, The Silent, or The Defect, and begin your ascension up the Spire. Fight your way through a plethora of creatures and bosses, as you strengthen your battle deck with each victory. But power alone will not aid you in your quest. You’ll have to play your cards right (literally) in order to overcome challenges and skillfully defeat those in your way. Only the best of fighters will find their way to the top! Slay the Spire is now available on the Nintendo Switch. (Emily)

Get ready to race against your friends in online multiplayer, customize your kart, and explore two different story modes with brand new cut-scenes. And with 26 different characters to choose from, the racing possibilities are limitless! Likewise, if you’re a fan of Crash Tag Team Racing, you’ll find a number of karts and character skins from that title in the game as well. Super Mario Maker 2

It’s time to get busy building with Super Mario Maker 2! This title is a direct sequel of the 2015 hit, Super Mario Maker. With a full library of assets, power-ups, enemies and more from the Super Mario library at your fingertips, the creative possibilities are endless! And what better way to celebrate a SECOND game than with adding a SECOND player? That’s right-there’s Co-Op! Team up with your friends and build courses together. Or, take on some online levels, either together or versus. Finally, Super Mario Maker 2 will come with a unique single-player Story Mode, filled with over 100 Nintendo-created challenges! Do you have what it takes to build your way to the top? Super Mario Maker will be available on the Nintendo Switch on June 28. (Emily)

Octopath Traveler

Octopath Traveler first graced our Nintendo Switch screens back in 2018 and quickly became a hit among role playing game fans. Now those of us who don’t have the Nintendo Switch (yes me…insert sad face here) are getting a chance to experience the game on PC. Octopath Traveler features eight main characters that each feature their own unique adventures across the continent of Orsterra. Each storyline feels like it’s own conclusive story while doing an amazing job of intertwining them later on in the game. PC players will get to experience Octopath Traveler on June 7. (Julia)

The Sinking City

What makes a good action adventure and survival horror game? A lot of Lovecraft inspiration mixed in. The Sinking City from developer Frogwares and publisher Bigben Interactive is looking to be the perfect marriage of the two. Players will be able to explore the fictional city of Oakmont that is currently filled with floodwaters and some of the most hair-raising creatures from the Lovecraft Cthulhu mythos. They will help guide private detective Reed as he goes in search of a cure for his ever growing insanity. Can he figure it out before completing going over the edge? The game is set to release for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on June 27. (Julia)

Heavy Rain

If you haven’t had the experience of a Quantic Dream game, then now is your chance. Heavy Rain was first released in February 2010 for the PlayStation 3 and it made a lasting impression with critics and players due to it’s story-rich gameplay, exceptional music and voice acting, and it’s focus on choices and their consequences. In Heavy Rain, you play four different characters who are all connected by one thread: the Origami Killer. You will be fully immersed in their lives and will be required to make key decisions that will effect the game’s overall story. Can you solve the mystery of the Origami Killer? You’ll find out when the game releases on June 24 for PC via the Epic Games store. (Renee)
