Yesterday, we learned that Adriana Barraza would star in the upcoming Blumhouse Television and Amazon Prime film Bingo. Blumhouse has released another announcement stating that Joshua Caleb Johnson will be joining the team.
Johnson will portray Caleb, a teenager living with his grandmother and being raised by his single mother. Caleb’s grandmother, Dolores, lives in a Barrio in Oak Springs. She and her group of friends find out that their “beloved bingo hall is about to be sold to a much more powerful force than money itself.”
Johnson starred as Henry “Onion” Shackleford alongside Ethan Hawke in The Good Lord Bird. The story is told from Onion’s point of view. His turn as Caleb in Bingo will be his second collaboration with Blumhouse.
In 2020, Johnson was selected for Variety‘s Up Next list in their annual Power of Young Hollywood issue. Said issue highlights young, up-and-coming actors.
Johnson is represented by Innovative Artists, Luber Roklin Entertainment and Viewpoint LA.
Bingo is a part of Amazon Prime’s Welcome to the Blumhouse program. This is composed entirely of horror-thriller films. In a much-needed amplification of feminism and diversity in the horror world, every movie highlights emerging filmmakers, females and diverse casts.
In 2021, Welcome to the Blumhouse will be adding multiple new movies including Bingo, Black as Night, The Manor and Madres. Previous films such as Black Box and Evil Eye are currently streaming on Prime Video.
Flourishing horror phenom Gigi Saul Guerrero is directing Bingo. She also co-wrote the script with Shane MacKenzie and Perry Blackshear. Jason Blum, Jeremy Gold, Marci Wiseman, Raynor Shima, Lisa Bruce and Lauren Downey will executive produce.
Bingo is currently in production.
