Disney and Lucasfilm recently tapped Gareth Edwards (Godzilla) to direct a spin-off from the Star Wars franchise. Today, they announced another director for another spin-off movie. Josh Trank (Chronicle, Fantastic Four) is the lucky director this time. However, there is no information on what these spin-offs will be about. So, speculate Internet, speculate!

Kathleen Kennedy from Lucasfilms said in a statement: “We’re thrilled to welcome Josh into the family. He is such an incredible talent and has a great imagination and sense of innovation. That makes him perfectly suited to Star Wars and for this new slate of movies that reach beyond the core characters and storylines of Episodes I through IX.”

Trank also released a statement, “The magic of the Star Wars Universe defined my entire childhood. The opportunity to expand on that experience for future generations is the most incredible dream of all time.”

So there ya go. We are going to have A LOT of Star Wars spin-offs, stand-alones, sequels – whatever you want to call them, coming at us in the near future. Do you predict over-saturation of the Star Wars Universe? Disney and Lucasfilm squeezing out every dollar they can get? Or, is this the best news you’ve ever heard in your entire life – Star Wars, everywhere,  all the time?
