CBS All Access is really racking up the nerd cred. First, there was Star Trek: Discovery which was recently renewed for a second season. Then they announced the Will Ferrell comedy series No Activity. And, now to top it all off, Jordan Peele is working on rebooting The Twilight Zone for the streaming service.
This is not the first time CBS has attempted to relaunch The Twilight Zone. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the network made revival attempts in the 1980’s, 2002, and in 2012 tried to attach X-Men‘s Bryan Singer to “develop, exec produce and potentially direct a new version of the anthology.” That didn’t pan out. And, maybe that’s for the best. Because, now we’ve got Jordan Peele at the helm with Marco Ramirez (The Defenders, Daredevil) writing the script and acting as show runner.
Peele gained big time directorial notoriety for his knock out hit horror film, Get Out, earlier this year. This seems to be a pretty logical move for Peele, and a brilliant one. With anthology shows like Black Mirror gaining popularity and his clear understanding of psychological thriller, The Twilight Zone and Jordan Peele are a match made in heaven. Or, shall I say, made in a surreal purgatory of their own invention? Same, same.
