Snow No Show

Sad news for fans of Westeros’ moodiest bastard as Kit Harington reports that the much talked about Jon Snow spinoff is not happening (for now) at HBO. The news of a possible series about the adventures of Jon Snow north of The Wall broke way back in 2022, but not much has been heard about it since that time.

Well, there’s an old saying in Hollywood: Good news travels fast and bad news doesn’t travel at all. In an interview with Screen Rant (via Variety) promoting his new movie Blood And Dust, Harington confirmed what many have feared, that the Jon Snow series is no longer in development.

Couldn’t Find the Right Story

Back in June 2022, Game of Thrones creator George R.R. Martin wrote in his blog that he was excited about the spinoff saying, “Yes, it was Kit Harington who brought the idea to us… I cannot tell you the names of the writers/showrunners, since that has not been cleared for release yet but Kit brought them in too, his own team, and they are terrific.”

It’s not clear who Harington was working with on the show, but whoever they were the team apparently couldn’t settle on a story for the further adventures of Snow. Harington elaborated, “It’s off the table because we all couldn’t find the right story to tell that we were all excited about enough,” he continued. “So, we decided to lay down tools with it for the time being. There may be a time in the future where we return to it, but at the moment, no. It’s firmly on the shelf.”

More Thrones on the Way

As sad as Jon Snow fans might be, they do have lots of other Game of Thrones content to look forward to. Season 2 of House of Dragons will hit our screens this Summer and the series based on George R.R. Martin’s Tales of Dunk and Egg books Knight of The Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight made news recently with some key roles being cast. The role of Ser Duncan The Tall (aka Dunk) will played by Peter Claffey (Bad Sisters), while his squire Egg will be played by Dexter Sol Ansell (The Hunger Games: The Balad of Sonbirds And Snakes).
